"Range anxiety is real - most electric vehicles take hours to recharge, and EV stations are few and far between. Companies like Tesla and Better Place (now defunct) have developed battery swapping stations that give electric vehicles a full charge in minutes instead of hours, however the technology is difficult to scale and hasn't reached prime time - yet. The Gogoro Energy Network is envisioned as a dense, connected array of GoStations - ATM-sized battery swap stations that can give EV drivers a full charge in six seconds flat. Using a GoStation is a snap - a driver simply grabs batteries from their vehicle, pops them into a GoStation, and the station ejects a fresh set of batteries. A single GoStation contains six batteries at any given time, and the stations' modular design allows them to be chained together to create bigger battery banks. The GoStations' small size means that they can be quickly and easily deployed to blanket an entire city, and they don't require any special infrastructure to set up - a single 15 amp station runs on about as much energy as big refrigerator. Gogoro is targeting a density of 1.6 stations per square mile, so the average distance between each station would be around .8 miles."

"What is surprising is that Uber's user experience affects not only drivers but also the design of cities, as well as the lives of those residing in them. Jarrett Walker, a public-transit consultant, has noted that ride-sharing apps have "transformed customer experience-by taking the friction out of the hailing, routing, and paying." But those apps don't "seem to be transforming the fundamental nature of the task, or its potential to be profitable." This is because, very simply, "transportation happens in physical space. The dominant element of cost is the time it takes to drive someone to their destination, and to travel empty between jobs. The app does nothing to change this." Think of the experience of waiting for an Uber driver, in which you follow a single vehicle making turns on an empty Google Map. Everything is evacuated from the picture except for streets: there is nothing standing between you and the vehicle but time and empty space. For a consumer, the image is ethereal. But the streets are actually full of buildings, people, and other cars. Getting around in a city requires taking up space, which by nature is subject to scarcity. Every new passenger diminishes the experience for the existing pool of customers."

Last month, a mobile town square on wheels finally changed this and gave the town the public space they deserved. Curated by London-based civic ideas agency Spacemakers and designed by Studio Kieren Jones the Cricklewood Town Square comes to life in the shape of a miniature clock tower, which is attached to the back of a bicycle. Whenever it stops it transforms empty spaces into vibrant community events."

"By definition, subways are geographically disorienting. While we move through them, we can't see where we're going - or, rather, where we are relative to the landmarks above. Our sense of speed (and therefore distance) is disarmed by the fact that there's not much to watch out the window. And then there are the maps, network diagrams that are intentionally distorted to simplify information at the expense of geography. "Riding an underground train robs us from using visual references of the city," emails Till Nagel, a research associate at the Interaction Design Lab in Potsdam, Germany. Il peut profiter des parcs publics pour grimper de temps en temps et crier à sa guise. En effet, son hurlement, dans son T3 de 51m², risquerait de gêner bon nombre de ses voisins, surtout que la laine de mouton dans les murs de l'écoquartier n'offre pas une isolation sonore optimale. Tarzan doit aussi se déplacer. Et là, c'est le drame ! Des bus toutes les demi-heures, parfois à attendre dans le froid et la pluie, avec un changement de ligne obligatoire pour rejoindre le centre-ville et le commerce de bananes bio de proximité qu'il a ouvert avec Jane. Conformément à son programme électoral, le maire de la commune décide qu'à l'horizon 2050, chacune des rues de la ville sera agrémentée de nombreux arbres. Le paysagiste en charge du projet annonce qu'il aura recours à des essences d'arbres tropicaux et exotiques. Tarzan n'est pas satisfait. Les pollens des nouveaux arbres exotiques lui font fréquemment couler du nez. C'est vrai que les arbres sont jolis, mais les pollens sont très agressifs, inadaptés au milieu local et provoquent de graves crises d'allergies chez beaucoup de gens. Mais bon, Tarzan sait que parfois il faut savoir faire des sacrifices vis-à-vis de la nature. Il décide alors de militer pour monter un dossier de création de Lianes à Haut Niveau
