Search as you type bookmarks crashed my browser - 21 views

Diigo GUI search-feature bugs crash browser Firefox menu FAYT crash (computing)

I don't think the "search as you type" for my bookmarks should not start at the first letter,
I have so many that it can crash my browser, if not it lags.

I don't know what are the common settings but I would assume 3 letters would be good start, and after 60'' if no more input is added look for 2 letter tags ?

    YES YES AND YES!
Is there some guidelines we can refer to when I notify or ban someone?
For the moment I use these threads you leave but I wish it was something more official... I mean the reader may not know who you are.

    -Thanks

Some requesting members asking to join only have few bookmarks, like 1 or 3..
so they can't be labeled as spammer... but I don't accept them, what use if it's so little?

I'd just like to quote & link to official text in my group description to say it's not just this groups but all the groups (because I've seem some other groups which are quit spammed... but it's not supposed to be my business)
...but it IS everybody's business to maintain a good database!
    =)

Request: Direct links in Diigo feeds - 31 views

Diigo feeds links lead to the bookmark page - which isn't very logic as your generally not going to comment if you haven't view the original page.

Couldn't it be a direct link?

PS: Is the 'Diigo feature request group/forum unmaintained? If so, could it be closed?

Quick remove from group / list - 19 views

    Not my 1st time:
I made a mistake and added a bookmark to the wrong list - How can I quickly remove it?
(Without needing to load an other page?)

There is no 'remove from' in the 'add to list' dropdown menu like in some other apps (Google webapps)
nor in the 'edit' inpage popup box.

Could it not be added? Or did I miss something?

This would be nice to have in the Diigolet too (and the toolbar? does it have a way to remove from lists/groups?) because it's generally there that I make the mistake...

    Thanks.

Yesterday it took ages for pages here to load.

En fact I think it was always a bit slow but not as much as these … month (?)

    Anybody notice the same?

    What's up?

Just aaw your post on Twitter - said it was possible/done - cool.
You can now submit to http://www.social.com/Microblogging/Twitter/Browser-Plugin/
Thats where I like looking for Twitter apps

Multiple account is a very good idea - I wont need it, but I know it is useful when you need it.

This won't be in the bookmarklet, right? (I can't install the toolbar everywhere...)

How to prevent spam bookmarks in groups? Any ideas? - 11 views

My group description starts : NO SPAM!!! - NO SELF-PROMOTION !!! - NO PUBLICITY
Though I still get a lot. Some members are 50% selfish - they use social bookmarking as auto-promoting and 'normal' bookmarking.

Is there a way - other than deleting people from a group - to prevent spam ?

and I don't want to vote up stuff I don't like just to lower spam... How about promoting the good members?

    Any ideas are welcome.

I definitely hope it'll be an option. Do think about those who understand both - I wouldn't like to be limited to french only.
Well at least for searching: an check box to search only french, english… bookmarks would be nice.

maybe 20% of my bookmarks are french.

Why del.icio.us for searching and diigo for bookmarking ? + IDEAS - 105 views

bookmarking checker ideas in manager searching spell tag the spam (electronic)
  • yc c

    Hi diigoers!

It's been a while I've been thinking about an idea to improve tag searching.

    First:
Since all the many many many SBs (maybe 30 SB's ?) I've tried to use I now find myself bookmarking a bit with del.icio.us, a bit with Furl (for copies) and everyday with diigo.
So diigo is the winner! BRAVO !!!
It's the one I naturally find myself using. Thank you for this great service. :)
But for searching, I still use del.icio.us !!!

    WHY?
One of the great aspects about SB is that it's social: Humanbots - we're supposed to get a human indexed web.
So the "search" side of SB's are crucial. Specially Tag search because they are defined by the humans.
But the problem with the social aspect of tags are numerous : vocabulary, misspelling, language…
Some say there should be no rule because everybody is free to put what he likes - OK I agree, but it means that a person who - for example - uses very few tags, or "personal home made tags" isn't thinking about sharing, so I won't count those (even if they does influence the popularity of a link, but that's an other issue)

I'm thinking of those social - not spam - bookmarks I would like in my tag search results.

Good tag search results also mean good tag managing, but as most don't bother about it I thought it would be nice to have some automated support.

The "suggested" or "popular" tags on the "add bookmark" page is a good feature in that direction.

    HOW?

Some ideas for the tag manager:

    - spell checker - and for obvious errors an automatic correction (eg. automatically remove triple letters like "acesss")
    - option to ignore singular and plural (some do use them on purpose and some don't) eg. a feature that would automatically put them together in one tag
    - synonym support. eg. advise similar popular tag ?

    For searching :
    - language support
    - file - media type support
    - wildcard support ?

    What do you think?

Thanks and have a nice week!

    OTHER (problems) :
I have difficulty loading diigo on a windows 2000 server. so an option to view lighter pages?
In the tag manager I see tags that I had split in two are still stuck together as one tag.
And I really need to know from what URL people post messages. I get some critics about a link but I don't know what link they are talking about.

Quick way to copy bookmarks from search results ? - 46 views

bookmarks copy searching spamming spam (electronic)
started by yc c on 15 May 08 no follow-up yet

I image there's no "copy bookmark" button on search results because of bad tagging... or is there any other reason?
But still, could there not be a "copy" button.. with - I don't know - if tags are the problem : an obligation to input tags or something? with the possibility to batch copy ?
I often come across search results where I know the websites - but I had forgotten about them.
If i want it, I have to open the page ... bookmark, enter tags+description ... even if the bookmark I was in front of my eyes in the search result !

+Could this not be a good feature to fight spam ? ( instead of removing spam, increasing the amount of non-spam bookmarks ... or would spammers create multiple account and copy from themselves? )

The new message feature is very nice but :
I have received some that seem to react to a page, but as I don't know where - on which page - they wrote them, I don't know what they're talking about.

Could there be some meta/header information displayed?
