No benefit from Primary androgen deprivation therapy in localized prostate cancer.

Meta-analysis finds no improvement with cardiovascular risk from low saturated fats.  This is not the first study to show this.  The weakness of this is that this study is a meta-analysis.  This needs to be taken in context and applied individually.  The take home is that universal restriction of saturated fats is not the holy grail of nutrition.

this study suggest, that in some, Hg fillings can contribute to MS.  I believe that detoxification compromise also is required.

Study discusses the long term consequences of chronic lead exposure.  Acute lead toxicity is not the only mechanism of lead toxicity.  Lead can be toxic in chronic exposure.  This study also touches on the aspect that serum levels on reveal recent exposure as challenge and chelation are the only way to draw out and eliminate the stored metals.  When individuals lack detoxification enzymes i.e. glutathione these metals promote more symptoms and/or disease.

Case study found improvement of MS symptoms  with IV EDTA chelation.  The study documented elevated levels of aluminum, lead and mercury.  The EDTA would only reliable chelate the lead and the aluminum and mercury to a lesser degree.

Quick review of the mechanism of action by IV vitamin C in cancer.  Alpha lipoic acid augments the apoptotic effects of IV vitamin C.

Testosterone modulates dopaminergic pathways in the the brain.  This was a rat model.  This points to some of the euphoria experienced by men on Testosterone likely occurs through dopamine.

Study finds that higher BMI and insulin levels associated with decline Testosterone levels.  But, so were risperidone and olanzapine in schizophrenic patients.  The association between the medications and the BMI and insulin was less in the meds, but still present.  The risperidone had a greater association with a lower Testosterone.  Increasing estradiol levels correlated with the low Testosterone levels.

Study finds that Testosterone regulates glucose metabolism, in part, through adiponectin production.  Early state of low T will slow the use of fats as a source of fuel and this results in an increased energy balance and results in the increased adiponectin production to increase metabolism.  Testosterone and adiponectin exist in an inverse relationship. This study does not mimic normal physiology.  Men with low T are unhealthy with significant metabolic dysfunction.  These young, "healthy" men were induced to a low T state--that is not a clear picture as the physiology of a "young healthy" man is quite different than that of one with low T.   Testosterone conversion to DHT increases GLUT4 and thus glucose uptake--another mechanism of Testosterone's effect on glucose metabolism.

Only the abstract is available, but this study looks at the effects of progesterone through progesterone receptors and the progesterone metabolite allopregnanolone via the GABA A receptors in the brain.

Postmenopausal cognitive decline is a common complaint.  Declining Estradiol and progesterone have been implicated, in part, to this cognitive decline.  This study finds that progesterone increases expression of Transthyretin, a protein that processes amyloid Beta protein.  This amyloid Beta protein is associated with damage found in Alzheimer's. 

Study finds that higher protein to carbohydrate intake has a positive effect on inflammatory cytokines, oxidative stress, improves insulin sensitivity and improves Beta cell function in premenopausal, non diabetic obese women.

Shorter telomere lengths associated with breast cancer.  But, longer telomere length may as well.

Irisin is a new hormone found to play a role in energy metabolism.  Irisin levels are predictive of telomere length i.e. the higher the irisin levels, the longer the telomere lengths.
