PDA expresses concerns as Boots decides to cut opening hours at some pharmacies - Lates... - 0 views

  •
The Pharmacists' Defence Association (PDA) has expressed concerns over Boots UK's decision to reduce supplemental opening hours at some pharmacies. The association stated: "Some pharmacists and other staff at Boots are being notified this week of changes to opening hours at their place of work, with local briefings taking place. The PDA are supporting their members to deal with any potential impact on their employment." It said that reducing pharmacy opening hours would affect patients' access to a trusted healthcare professional, especially if it is being done by the largest community pharmacy multiple. It even called upon the NHS to adequately fund community pharmacies to ensure they remain open when patients and local communities need their services. Meanwhile, Boots management has informed PDA that most of its employees are not pharmacists, and "less pharmacists are expected to be directly impacted by these changes than other colleagues," PDA said.

Aging, Atherosclerosis, and IGF-1 - 0 views

  •
good article discussing the positive impact of IGF-1 on atherosclerosis.  This hormone, under the control of HGH, is important in the healing and regenerative process.  Thus, the use of the term "anti-aging".  However, these two hormones simply help the body heal, repair, and regenerate itself.  Not surprising, inflammation (TNF-alpha) counteracts these positive effects.

Inflammatory responses to trivalent influenza virus ... [Vaccine. 2011] - PubMed - NCBI - 0 views

  •
This article's conclusion fits the definition of insane. This article found that the flu vaccine in pregnant women found significant increased CRP, TNF-alpha, and IL-6 inflammatory biomarkers.  It is well recognized the impact of inflammation on health and in this case the developing baby.   For example, preeclampsia and preterm birth are inflammatory conditions.  Yet, ACOG has made recommmendations for all pregnant women to get the flu vaccine?!?! Here is their conclusion: "However, further research is needed to confirm that the mild inflammatory response elicited by vaccination is benign in pregnancy".  Take home, you are being studied to see the effects of the flu vaccine on you, if you are pregnant, and your developing child.  And who decides what "mild" is anyways.  If you develop preeclampsia and delivery early, where is the "mild" in that?

T3 increases mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation. This has huge impacts on which hypothyroidism is currently managed (only evaluate TSH and T4) and disease implication. We know that decoupling of oxidative phosporylation and a shift to glycolysis and glutaminolysis (substrate-level phosphorylation) results in genomic mutability and cancer, then a low T3 has implications in cancer prevention
