Men with Metabolic Syndrome have lower Total Testosterone values.  Symptoms correlated with age: older men associated with increased symptoms.  This study only found lot T at 6.5%.  The authors in this study have come up with a new box--andropenia.  I don't know what the heck that is and how that helps clients.  If symptoms are present and if levels are on the decline, then symptomatic hypogonadism is present.  I know the logic seems simple, but it appears hard to follow in the science.  I don't see this any different then type II diabetes.  At 126 you have diabetes, but at 125, we don't know what to do with you but see us next year and you will have diabetes and we will know what to do because you are in the box of diabetes.

Testosterone therapy aids weight loss in study of obese men.  The presentation of the potentially biased study (study was funded by the makers of the Testosterone used in the study) proposes Testosterone as a pharmacologic bariatric treatment.  That conclusion is ludicrous!  Testosterone therapy has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity, improve glucose uptake, reduces inflammation, improve muscle building, and reduce the parameters of metabolic syndrome--all of which underlies the obesity.  Thus, men with low T and obesity, Testosterone therapy is playing a causal role in the obesity and thus Testosterone therapy is treating the cause.  But to describe it as pharmacologic bariatric therapy is false and misleading. http://ow.ly/CKrje 

animal model finds that high fat diet induces ED more through increased Estradiol production than low Testosterone.  Of course the authors focused on the drugs to block E2 once produced, rather then reducing the T to E2 aromatase activity.  This metabolic syndrome model implies that increased aromatase activity will be present.

environmental toxins that have estrogenic activity, i.e. BPA alter the prostate stem cells.  These and other xenoestrogens, as they are collectively called, increase the sensitivity of the prostate to estrogen.  This increases the risk of prostate Ca.  This just sets the pattern of signal interpretation and sensitivity.  Add in the continued estrogenic environment, add in the excess weight, the increased aromatase activity and resultant estrogen production and one has all the ingredients for prostate cancer.

Weekly Testosterone injections increase type 1 slow muscle fibers more than type II fast twitch muscle fibers compared to monthly injections.  The study looked at older men with sarcopenia and low T.

Meta-analysis finds that Testosterone therapy in men over 60 increased lean mass and decreased fat mass.

Small study of 2 men with type II diabetes finds fasting glucose levels negatively correlate with total and free Testosterone levels, HgbA1c negatively correlated with SHBG only, total cholesterol and LDL negatively correlated with SHBG and total testosterone.  The prevalence of type II diabetes was higher with low free Testosterone than total Testosterone, but both were statistically significant.

first study that I have seen that looked at the issue of Testosterone transmission through laundered clothing.  Only abstract available here, but 13% was transmitted to clothing through skin application and 3% remained following laundry of the clothing.
