Prevalence and Correlates of Late-Onset Hypogonadism Among Korean Men Aged 40 Years or ... - 0 views

  •
Study of Korean men finds late onset of hypogonadism to be 16.8% in their study of 1,235 men older than 40.  This is a higher rate than other studies, but lower than others (38.7% in American men).  The test definition of low T was set at 3.2 ng/ml.  Abdominal obesity, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, and increasing age were associated with low T. Low T is clearly not a problem unique to America.  It definitely appears that a decreasing Testosterone level is a marker of poor health in men.

Study finds that low Testosterone preoperative is associated with increased positive surgical margins and worse staging post radical prostatectomy.  Also association with a non-statistical increase in biochemical failure.

The expanding role of incretin-based therapies: how much should we expect? - 0 views

  • The incretins are peptide hormones released from the small intestine during meal absorption that stimulate insulin secretion from pancreatic β-cells and reduce excessive secretion of glucagon by pancreatic α-cells

  •
Trends tell a lot more than individual values.  IN the battle against obesity, trends tell a sad story.  Obesity rates are increasing in our children. Up to 17.2% in children.  The numbers in the severe category fared the worse.

Aromatase and regulation of the estrogen-to... [Ann N Y Acad Sci. 2014] - PubMed - NCBI - 0 views

  •
Study looked at inflammatory markers in RA.  The authors point to high aromatase activity, low androgens, and elevated estrone in synovial fluid as an indicator of a link between aromatase activity and inflammation production through E1 production.  The authors also point to the 16 alpha metabolite pathway as pro-inflammatory as well.  One very interesting point made by the authors is that vitamin D down regulates aromatase activity.  In addition to NK-kappaB inhibition, this may be another mechanism by which vitamin D reduces inflammation.

Asian study finds Testosterone is inversely associated with increased central obesity, increased dyslipidemia, and metabolic syndrome in me with new diagnosis of type II diabetes and hypertension.  Men with metabolic syndrome, type II diabetes, and CVD must have appropriate hormone evaluation.

meta-analysis finds reduction in fat mass from DHEA in elderly men.  The authors propose that it is due to the conversion to other hormones.

Meta-analysis finds bias in industry studies versus independent studies.  No surprise there.   Testosterone in this meta-analysis was found to aid sexual dysfunction in men with hypogonadism.

Testosterone level and mortality in elderly men with systolic chronic heart failure - 0 views

  •
Good article.  Heart failure in men associated with lower Total Testosterone and estimated Free Testosterone. The severity of disease was associated with lower Testosterone levels.   I wish they would have measured free levels not estimated them.   Increased SHBG concentrations was associated increased CHF as well. This study found no association with mortality.

Absolute must read!  Science. That is what physicians are.  Eliminate politics and bias.  Aluminum, common adjuvant in vaccines and well known neurotoxin, has been linked to post vaccine macrophagic myofascitis.  Now, world experts have placed it at the forefront of a new created syndrome "ASIA" which is autoimmune/inflammatory syndrome induced by adjuvants.

Fructosamine and glycated albumin shown to correlate with diabetes and associated microvascular complications.  These biomarkers would compare to HgbA1C diagnostically, but their interval of glycemic evaluation would be less i.e.2-4 weeks versus 3 months with HgbA1c.

Patches of Disorganization in the Neocortex of Children with Autism - NEJM - 0 views

  •
New study suggests that intra-uterine exposure effects prefrontal cortex development that leads to autism.  This study was conducted of postmortem samples of children with autism ranging from 2 to 15. Intra-pregnancy exposure of what?  That is the question.  Environmental toxins: whether it is all the xenoestrogens (autism at rate of 5:1 in boys), PCBs, heavy metals, and yes (lead author) preservatives, metals (Al and thermeresol) in vaccines--particularly the flu vaccine which ACOG is almost mandating during pregnancy.

  •
Glyophosate found to be increased in the urine of animals and humans eating GMO food products.  Interesting association that "ill" humans had higher urinary glyophosate levels.  What is defined as "ill" is left to be determined. But clearly, glyophosate is not the innocent product that we have told it was.
