Adding rich text support will make the toolbar more complex

WYSIWYG toolbar in the editing window need not be as complex as the toolbars in the mock-ups at http://groups.diigo.com/Diigo_HQ/forum/topic/531 See suggestions at http://www.diigo.com/annotated/bd275badf20bce8bf709b39edb1a5cc9 The toolbar should include at least the hyper-link button/icon (to resolve angle bracket issues that cause loss of content), plus maybe the bulleted list button/icon. Other features such as font, font size, underline and paragraph alignment are less useful (debatably undesirable) in comments and sticky notes. Addition (upload) of graphics would be nice, if performance does not suffer.

One of three is missing a party to the conversation.
Three of three seem to be missing content; in each one, I refer to something but all references are missing.
The recipients (recently registered) were probably unimpressed with such introductions to Diigo ;)
@ Diigo
1) Is the missing party a sign that the person simply left the conversation? Or might the person have changed their Diigo ID? I'd like to recall, but can't, the name of the person to whom I wrote about 'Research in Learning Contexts' :(
2) Would you estimate that all three messages were casualties of http://groups.diigo.com/Diigo_HQ/forum/topic/6986 - is it an issue with Ruby on Rails? -

Tests in relation to
http://groups.diigo.com/Diigo_HQ/forum/topic/9602
coincidentally reveal that messages sent in that way produce
copies that are incomplete.
My sent copies in the Diigo Message area are:
* limited to the covering text
* _missing_ the most relevant things: the bookmarks.
So: I guess is that this is a design omission (not a RoR issue).

That question remains unanswered. No rush.

I'm advised that loss and breakage of URLs is related to a problem with Ruby on Rails.

FWIW (I never used Maxthon) I would try Diigolet for Maxthon, http://www.diigo.com/tools/diigolet

A highlight from http://groups.diigo.com/Diigo_HQ/forum/topic/5766#15
>> We plan to make read it later feature more easy to use and better
>> than before. Any feature request and suggestion are welcome.
In response to Joel's invitation, conversation tended towards Firefox (and presumably Flock and Internet Explorer) -only development, I argued that we should expect web technologies (not browser-specific technologies).
http://groups.diigo.com/Diigo_HQ/forum/topic/8956#5 clarifies that
>> keen for http://about.diigo.com/ http://groups.diigo.com/
>> http://message.diigo.com/ http://www.diigo.com/ to be more
>> consistent, more harmonious, easier to use, more appealing
To that list I should add http://m.diigo.com/ although considering the constraints of mobile, we can't expect m.diigo.com to be entirely harmonious with domains that are designed for desktop.
In the same topic:
>> not pushing for improvements to Diigolet (though improvements there
>> will be welcome)
In this forum we have a few issues (bugs and suggestions, some recently resolved) with Diigolet and related dialogues. Plus issues that are specific to browsers. Without referring to any one issue, my broad sense is that many may be deferred or rejected if we take the following approach:
1. desktop, through the web (TTW) (any browser): a Diigo Dashboard http://www.diigo.com/dashboard/ route to preferences for the read later button
2. desktop, TTW: 'read later' button to appear in Diigolet
3. iPhone, TTW (typically Safari): 'read later' button to appear in Diigolet
4. iPhone, primarily offline: a 'reading' application to comprise (a) aspects of Diigo plus other complementary technologies, and (b) triage, or something like it (re: triage, I'll post a separate topic)
5. desktop, TTW, at http://groups.diigo.com/ http://www.diigo.com/ and their desktop-oriented siblings: 'post-reading' and other activities.
There's workflow, without slavery to workflow.
Of the five points, (3) is closest to your request:
> post bookmarks
Re: details of points (3) and (4) and of triage, I'll post separately.
Postscript: I'll await a response to http://groups.diigo.com/Diigo_HQ/forum/topic/9009 then post to two fora then await their responses before continuing…

1. in a list of bookmarks, focus attention on any one bookmark:
2. click the Edit button.

Diigo search results lack the Edit buttons:

At the moment, the Save dialogue is a group member's primary route to
* saving (adding) to a list
* saving (sharing) with another group.
(for Diigo Groups: the Edit Bookmark dialogue lacks these functions) so whilst I agree that it's not logical to offer to save something that is already saved, we do still need a streamlined way for groups to share and to add to lists.
Elsewhere, some time ago in this forum, there's a topic that acknowledges the need to extend/refine menus such as 'More Actions…' in the Diigo Groups UI.
Beyond Diigo Groups: the Edit Bookmark dialogue is remarkably different:
If the Edit Bookmark dialogue for Groups is harmonised with other Edit Bookmark dialogues
then we might expect sharing and listing options to appear within the dialogue
and in our thoughts on design, we should not forget the image offered by Nate:
in which there is suggested the option of simultaneous saving/sharing to multiple groups and more.

AFAIR the options relating to sharing are envisaged or at least suggested as a menu, not as a button:
- and the UI for groups should be harmonious with the UI for self.

Agreed.

In the groups view, actions may have meanings that are more plural (i.e. applying to many within the group) so the approaches and wording deserve great care.

If limiting yourself to a single browser:
1. sign out from one Diigo account
2. log in using a different Diigo account.
If you have two or more browsers installed:
1. launch your second browser and sign in using a different account.
If using Diigolet on Mac OS X:
* lock your keychain before presenting Diigolet
otherwise the keychain may provide the most recent credentials before you have a chance to provide the alternative. -
> switch between them
If using Safari, you can prefer to show its Develop menu, then switching between browsers is easy:
1. Develop menu
2. Open Page With
3. from the list of installed browsers, select one.

Hi Israel
Whilst at

http://groups.diigo.com/Diigo_HQ/bookmark
you're not blind to it; the feature is missing.
IMO the feature should certainly be added, or at least optional, within the dashboard; for you that's
http://www.diigo.com/dashboard/dukebody
At your bookmarks
http://www.diigo.com/user/dukebody you should normally find the 'Add a bookmark' near to top right, but at the moment, it is considerably displaced by the Diigo/Mashable invitation to vote.

Maybe the details are separate from the forum; if they're in a Diigo message or conversation, it's highly unlikely that I'll relocate them.

1. without Diigo toolbar
2. add to the bookmarks bar of Safari: http://www.diigo.com/post
3. if the bookmark is at, say, position #5 on the bar, then (on Mac OS X) command-5 will present the dialogue

There's another topic http://www.diigo.com/annotated/64efb3911a6a8e6bca020a46e399a836 concerning placement at top right but AFAICT the other refers to top right of a dialogue (not top right of a page).
My gut feeling is that top right is a good place. (I'll consider this when I get around to sketching a suggested rearrangement of UI.)

Option for Private as Default for Annotations needed - 166 views

Hi Bob
For me, all of the following do default to private:
* comments
* highlights (I have added my highlight to this topic, readers should not see it)
* notes stuck to highlights
* floating sticky notes.
I'm using the most recent Diigolet in Safari 3.2.1 (5525.27.1) on Mac OS X 10.5.5.
Please:
Are you adding annotations to a bookmark that was previously shared?
When you add your annotations, are you
1) using Diigo Toolbar?
- If so, which version?
or
2) using Diigolet?
or
3) using Diigo web site (adding annotations to existing bookmarks)?

In some contexts, yes, commas are acceptable, though I don't know whether it's official or encouraged.
Try it :)

Do you mean, the widget that invites us to vote for Diigo in the Mashable Open Web Awards?

Do you mean, the right hand column that appears alongside 'My Bookmarks?
In both 'My Dashboard' http://www.diigo.com/dashboard/ and 'My Bookmarks' I find the embedded widget obtrusive. It's certainly effective (I mean: it does remind me to vote), but I'd prefer to have the widget in a window that pops up on demand.
@ Diigo, pretty please:
* can you find some other way of reminding us to vote?
Use the same starting points to alert/remind us, but make the effect less large. An amber button/lozenge, maybe, that leads to the widget.
Thanks
Graham
(I do have in mind a method/placement that's equally eye-catching but less obtrusive. It'll appear when I get around to sketching my ideas on UI rearrangement.)
