    Hopefully an error.

I do not recall your name, or posts, amongst anything banned by me recently (some of the bans captured in screen shots at/around http://groups.diigo.com/group/Diigo_HQ/content/1044972 ). From the shots you'll see that most things to be banned are very obviously not suitable for this group. If I did make an error in your case, I apologise.

    > Some days ago I posted somethings

Please, how many posts did you lose? Were they separate topics, or in the same topic?

Approximately when was the first one posted? ( http://www.diigo.com/profile/johankock suggests that you began using Diigo service on 27th January.)

When did you first notice the loss? 20th February?

    > not any more a part of Diigo Community

http://groups.diigo.com/group/Diigo_HQ/manage/members shows your date of joining this group as 20th February 2010 (the date of this topic), with daily alerts.

I wonder, when you first posted the things that are now missing, did you receive (in your Inbox) a copy of what you posted? This might help you to re-create your post(s).

    Regards
    Graham (Diigo user, occasional moderator)

    > using the latest diigo toolbar (4.1.0.29).

I'm not very familiar with behaviours of locally installed versions of Diigo.

    > using MacOS X 10.5.x, the latest diigolet widget on Firefox 3.0.x or Safari 3.1.x.

Hint: acquaint yourselves with what's shown in the toolbar of Diigolet whilst there's communication with Diigo services. http://groups.diigo.com/group/Diigo_HQ/content/1399333

Comparing status reports, in the toolbar of Diigolet, with end results: proposed tests

    Test 001

To help troubleshoot, maybe you and a few willing volunteers could:

    * work with a single bookmark

    * add not too many annotations (for the purposes of this test, maybe fewer than one hundred annotations in total)

    * add your few annotations in 'bursts' (aiming to all communicate with the server at or around the same moment)

    * after each addition: each user should ensure that the toolbar of Diigolet has progressed to its 'Welcome {username}' state.

    Test 002

If the results of the first test are good: then perform an extremely rushed test, bursts in rapid succession without pausing, aiming to deliberately ignore the status of the toolbar of Diigolet.

I would hope that loss arises only if the user attempts to add something before the server has finished handling a previous request.

    Postscript

For test 001, feel free to join the sandpit then use

a dashboard view at/around My Groups - 158 views

resolved TTW GUI suggestion

    Suggestion

At or around the user's view of 'My Groups'
    (in my case, http://groups.diigo.com/user/grahamperrin )
    there should be, optionally:

    * a _concise_ list view, or matrix/thumbnail view, of the groups

    - something that can be navigated without scrolling.

    = Motivation =

As the number of Diigo groups with which I involve myself grows, the repetitive scrolling through 'My Groups' becomes tedious.

I can't recall what My groups was like in Diigo 3 beta, but I know that I rarely went there.

My groups in Diigo 4.0 beta is much more like a dashboard.

    I don't mind the scrolling.

('My Watchlist' is offered in the Discover menu but I rarely use the Discover menu to discover ;) - there's more than enough to discover elsewhere in the Diigo web domains!)

    Subject: sub categories and trees

    > any thing with sub categories or so would be very fine. Maybe a tree
    > structure or something else ...

Personally I struggle with structures such as taxonomies, categories and trees.

In group environments, it's difficult to gain agreement on such structures.

In academic/research environments such as mine, agreement can be doubly difficult ;)

Still, I'm interested in your vision, not least because the environment in which I most often use trees - Plone content management system - offers multi-crieria collection (a.k.a aggregation, previously k.a. smart folders) and categories (previously k.a. keywords and still subject to enhancement), such things free site managers and users from the constraints/arguments of trees, and so all audiences are pleased. My site trees remain non-complex and most importantly, non-contentious.

(When I juggle or re-style key elements of a Plone site, the most vociferous planners/critics utter not a word. Things remain found, URLs and content don't break, generally a very happy situation, a rare pleasure :)

    ----

Back to Diigo. Elswehere in this forum there's a mass of recent discussion concerning filters and filtration:

    http://groups.diigo.com/search_topics?group_name=Diigo_HQ&what=filter*
    http://groups.diigo.com/search_topics?group_name=Diigo_HQ&what=filtra*

and lists and tabs and views and whatnot,
    and customisation or personalisation thereof:

    http://groups.diigo.com/search_topics?group_name=Diigo_HQ&what=custom*
    http://groups.diigo.com/search_topics?group_name=Diigo_HQ&what=personali*

(I sense parallels between all of that, and collections/categories etc. in Plone.)

If you can plough through a little of that (!) and sketch something that could be applicable to Diigo UIs for groups and for self, it would be a fine addition to the mix.

    Cheers
    Graham

    > have an unobtrusive visual structure of tags

    > maybe in a little tree map

    @ Herbert

Would you be happy with an appearance of your trees as a drop down menu?

    > at the sidebar in the "My Tags" oder "My Bookmarks" page

If things are rearranged considerately, might you be happy with the tree/map (or menu or whatever) somewhere _other_ than sidebar?

Or, are you particularly fond of having such things set _aside_?

    ----

    @ all

In my mind's eye, alongside the above, I'm considering: Scott Allam's 2008-11-27 rapid prototype, on-line/off-line, iPhone, filters, notions of 'read later', personal customisations, premiums/subscriptions, Google and other searches and advertisements, Diigo customisations, dashboard etc.. Sketches to follow at some point, in a separate topic.

On the subject of hierarchies, I recommend http://www.diigo.com/06ehc (highlights from a 2005 post to Chandler Project wiki).

A hierarchy of tags that suits a particular user may be ill-suited to other users in (say) Diigo group and watchlist environments.

There's also Common Tag format to consider.

    > ban links / domains

I understand the motivation, but banning content in group environments could be contentious.

How will members of a group be notified of a ban?

What should be the routine if a group member disputes a ban?

Who will resolve any dispute? Might disputes from a group elsewhere spill over into this group?

    Etc..

    @ Diigo

Priority suggestions relating to group fora

    1) the Tags field should allow more characters

    - the current limit, 65 characters, is too low

    2) when replying to a topic, the respondent should be able to add a tag

    - whilst addition may be encouraged, removal/edition must be disallowed

    3) when replying to a topic, the respondent should be able to edit the subject line

    - allowing more meaningful search results.

This effectively brings together at least three past topics,

    > 1) the Tags field should allow more characters

    Probably fixed.

    > 2) when replying to a topic, the respondent should be able to add a tag

Improved. The original author of a topic can edit tags.

    > whilst addition may be encouraged,
    > removal/edition must be disallowed

The latter is probably not enforced :-) but if you do remove or edit tags, please be aware that it may affect the search results that are expected by fellow group members.

    > 3) when replying to a topic, the respondent should be able to
    > edit the subject line

Improved. The original author of a topic can edit his subject.

More specifically: a search that's crafted by the member who added the bookmark may be broken (results not as expected) if someone else adds a tag.

With Safari, you can clip parts of Diigo to the Dashboard of Mac OS X.

If you like, the most often used clips can be freed from Dashboard, to float above or alongside normal windows, for example:

    > … sync my Safari bookmarks with …

That sort of thing would probably involve Sync Services and the Diigo API.
