    new study challenges the cholesterol = cardiovascular event story?  Good science asks questions and challenges dogma.  The authors claim the inflammatory hypothesis of atherothrombosis is yet unproven?  Maybe they need to get out and read more.  The point here Is not the drug in question, but the fact that a reduction in inflammation reduced recurrent cardiovascular events independent of cholesterol.

    Incredibly low impact of cytotoxic chemotherapy despite its wide spread utilization.  This article referenced cost yet did not evaluate the cost of cytotoxic side effect.  The question to answer: is Cytotoxic chemotherapy a valid treatment, at all, for the majority of cancers.

    This study, a review of 16 articles, found little scientific support for the "blood type" diet.  This is why I have not made this recommendation to our clients--no real data to support this diet.   One question, is what was the eligibility criteria for inclusion of the studies.  Only one out of the 16 was selected.  Inclusion/exclusion criteria in these studies can brian bias.

    This study reveals the degree of metabolism dysfunction in obesity. This study suggests that cortisol metabolism is increased in obesity, which results in increased HPA activity resulting in increased peripheral cortisol production. The question to be asked: is serum, salivary, and urinary cortisol results revealing the same function of cortisol. The answer is no.

    this study found no increase in inflammatory cytokines in those men on androgen deprivation therapy for prostate cancer.  The question, is they evaluated testosterone in the serum, so did they really see a decrease in androgens or just a decrease in the transport of androgens.  Saliva would have detected a true androgen deficient state.

    sex hormones play a role in the gout.  It appears that testosterone therapy increases uric acid levels and estradiol decreases uric acid levels.  Though, I question this based on the use of serum levels and thus inadequate assessment of aromatase activity.  Aromatase activity does not occur in the serum, it occurs in the tissue, thus saliva would be the best tool.

    low testosterone and increased inflammation found in men with cancer and cachexia.  The question is: if inflammation is part of the development of cancer, and low T is associated with increased inflammation, then we need to be adequately evaluating men for low T and inflammation for prevention.  That is true prevention.

    this study showed that oral testosterone did not increase CRP.  This is a different finding than other studies.  I question the use of the oral testosterone due to first pass metabolism.  This would result in less testosterone reaching the peripheral sites of aromatase activity.

    A very small study, but vitamin C shown to reduce fatigue, perception of fatigue and reduced heart rate.  This has implications in improving athletic performance.  The question, what does high dose vitamin C due for fatigue, heart rate, and athletic performance.

    Scary study.  This study seems to show that state laws are the way to reduce BMI.  BMI is not a reliable measurement of Percent fat.  So, I question this study all together.  But their conclusion seems to be to attack obesity through legislation.  You should attack obesity through education.

    NEJM reanalyzed the results from 12 antidepressant studies involving over 12,000 patients and found that 40% of studies that found no benefit for antidepressants were omitted.  This seriously altered the statistics and is obvious manipulation of data.  This brings the current recommendations on antidepressants into serious question.
