Is there a search interface into the groups forum? I'd like to be able to search a group's forum posts for specific words or topics.

Not yet, but on our To-Do list. Remember, this is just our 1st phase :-) ...

As we transition to tagging (very soon), that will also make it easy for you to pull up the keywords / topics.
