Do weight loss drugs reduce obesity or could they actually increase obesity rates? The search for gimmicks has created a dependance on weight-loss drug falsehoods that don't work long term.  Life style has been and continues to be the long term answer.  Weight-loss drugs actually are fueling the obesity trend due to a lack of metabolic solutions.   They work for the health of pharma profits, just not for the health of the patient.

Estrogenic regulation of skeletal muscle proteome: a study of premenopausal women and p... - 0 views

  • Female aging is characterized by menopausal change in sex steroid hormones concomitant to increase in aging-related decrements in skeletal muscle performance that can be attenuated by HRT use
  • The major canonical pathways found to be differentially regulated included mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative phosphorylation, glycolysis, and TCA-cycle, strong indicators for affected energy metabolism
  • E2 to exert anti-apoptotic effects in muscle progenitor cells by improving mitochondrial function
  • ...2 more annotations...
  • E2 is a major regulator of human skeletal muscle signaling in women
  • After menopause, when ovarian E2 production is ceased, the prevalence of cardio-metabolic diseases increases. Our result that different trajectories of the energy pathways in the skeletal muscle may be regulated by E2 provides candidate molecules as key targets for future interventions to prevent or treat postmenopausal metabolic dysregulation
  •
Study finds Estradiol regulates human skeletal muscle cell signaling (mitochondrial function, oxidative phosphorylation, glycolysis, and TCA cycle) in study of pre/post menopause women through proteome analysis. This study would have been complete if they had carried to search beyond that of protein to epigenetics.

Searching For an Old New Cure: Ivermectin Deficiency Syndrome? « The Healthy ... - 0 views

  • Ivermectin can inactivate the protein kinase PAK1 and blocks the PAK1-dependent growth of human ovarian cancer and NF2 tumor cell lines
  • PAK proteins encoded by the PAK1 gene are critical for cytoskeleton reorganization and nuclear signaling.
  • PAK-1 kinase is required for the growth of more than 70% of human cancers such as pancreatic, colon, breast and prostate cancers, and neurofibromatosis
  • ...5 more annotations...
  • The p21 activated Kinase PAK1 is implicated in tumor genesis.
  • Inhibiting PAK1 signals induce tumor cell apoptosis (cell death)
  • PAK1 has also been implicated for maintenance of glucose homeostasis in pancreatic beta cells and skeletal muscle
  • Ivermectin induces chloride-dependent membrane hyperpolarization and cell death in leukemia cells (Blood, November 4, 2010, vol.115). The paper states Ivermectin synergizes with chemo agents cytarabine and daunorubicin to induce cell death in leukemia cells.
  • Praziquantel , my other favorite parasite medication for liver flukes, synergistically enhances Paclitaxel (Taxol) efficacy to inhibit cancer cell growth
  •
Just a commentary but with important information on ivermectin in its inhibitory activity against another oncogene PAK1.

Computer Science Tuesday, April 25, 2023 Computer hardware Computer hardware is the physical components that make up a computer system. It includes everything from the central processing unit (CPU) to the monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Understanding the different types of hardware and how they work together is essential for anyone who works with computers. In this article, we will explore the various components of computer hardware, including internal and external components, and the peripherals that connect to them. We will also discuss the importance of hardware maintenance, the latest advancements in computer technology, and factors to consider when choosing the right hardware for your needs. Whether you are a computer technician, a gamer, or simply someone who uses a computer for everyday tasks, this article will help you better understand the world of computer hardware. Introduction to Computer Hardware Computer hardware refers to the physical components that make up a computer system. It includes everything from the processor and memory to input/output devices such as the keyboard and monitor. In this article, we will explore the different types of computer hardware and their functions. What is Computer Hardware Computer hardware refers to the physical components of a computer system. It includes all the components that can be touched, seen, and used to interact with a computer, such as the monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Hardware is different from computer software, which refers to the programs and applications that run on a computer system. History of Computer Hardware The history of computer hardware dates back to the 1820s when Charles Babbage, an English mathematician, and inventor, designed the first analytical engine, which was considered to be the first mechanical computer. With time, more complex electronic computers were developed, including the first Intel microprocessor in 1971. Since then, computer hardware has continued to evolve, becoming

Wheelchair 4 Wheel Drive - 0 views

  •
A wheelchair is a wheeled mobility device in which the user sits. The device is propelled either manually (by turning the wheels by the hand) or via various automated systems. Wheelchairs are used by people for whom walking is difficult or impossible due to illness (physiological or physical), injury, or disability. The chair seat size (width and depth), seat-to-floor height, footrests/leg rests, front caster outriggers, adjustable backrests, controls, and many other features can be customized on, or added to, many basic models, while some users, often those with specialised needs, may have wheelchairs custom-built. The usual size of the rear wheel ranges from twenty to twenty-six inches in diameter. A larger wheel increases the height of the seat off the ground and decreases the rolling resistance, thus easing the effort of pushing. The rear wheels can be solid or pneumatic. Solid wheels have a low rolling resistance and are very easy to maintain. They are ideal for use in institutional settings or for indoor use in noncarpeted areas. Pneumatic wheels have better grip on carpeted surfaces and are better if there is going to be significant outdoor use, but they run the risk of flats and require higher maintenance. The flat tire problem can be circumvented by the use of a foam insert that can prevent leaks. Wire spokes are lighter in weight but higher in maintenance. Most older persons will select large plastic spokes referred to as mag wheels. The wheels can be offset posteriorly to decrease the risk of tipping backwards. Wheelchair With 4 Small Wheels: Wheelchair With 4 Small Wheels foldable frame wheelchair made of chrome with 18" inches seat width, 8" Inches Front and Rear wheel, total weight 14 kg helps physical challenged person to move around indoor.
