obesity results in shift from M2 macrophages to M1 macrophages.  This results in inflammation and insulin resistance.  This fits the current hypothesis that obesity is in and of itself an inflammatory condition.

Study finds that ER beta inhibits invasion, proliferation and actually triggers cell death of prostate cancer cells.  This fits with the other data that loss of ER beta promotes carcinogenesis.

Low Testosterone in men with Diabetes predictive of an increase in all-cause mortality.  This fits with other data.  

Testosterone therapy is complex in hypogonadism.  Much of the marketing-based medicine of Low T today is in fact doping.  Increasing weight is clearly associated with a declining T level in men.  Testosterone therapy should be approach individually and therapies that use the one size fits all approach never work.  This is the case whether the use of synthetics or natural hormones are employed.  Testosterone has been shown to improve dysglycemia, MetS, reduce fat and increase muscle mass.  

New cohort study finds increased risk of Testosterone in men > 65 and those : these are based in marketing-based medicine not evidence based medicine.

Interesting study. In this study group, 36% of type II diabetes with ED had low Testosterone.  This fits with the estimated 40% of those with Diabetes have low T. What is really interesting about this study is that the degree of improvement with ED by Sildenfafil was dependent on the Testosterone level in the low T group.  Meanining that Testosterone therapy in these men would probably be more of a therapy directed at the cause and not Sildenafil.  Of course, the Testosterone therapy would benefit glucose regulation as well documented in the literature.

Calorie restriction increases serum Testosterone levels in obese men.  This fits with other research that weight reduction in obese men can resolve low T.  The obvious proposed mechanisms are a reduction in aromatase activity due to a loss of adiposity, a decrease in inflammatory cytokine production thus negatively effecting the HPA, improved HPA signaling and thus improved Testicular production of Testosterone.

This study points to an association between a low-normal TSH and cognitive decline in the elderly.  An association is not causative, but functional hypothyroidism does result in cognitive impairment, so the association would logically fit.  The results of this study do as well.

Study finds association between elevated Estradiol in young men and obesity.  No correlation was found with Testosterone.  This fits other research that points to early increased Estradiol production and late decrease in low T.  The men in this study were "young".  Testing was done in saliva.

Women with elevated androgens, Testosterone and androstenedione, are at higher risk of preeclampsia.  This translates to a higher risk of CVD in women later in life, post pregnancy.  This fits with other literature that CVD is linearly associated with a rising Testosterone.  This has been found in caucasian and black women.

Elderly individuals with the lowest normal TSH values were found to be associated with increased depressive symptoms.  These patients were clearly not hyperthyroid.  This fits with other data that points to increased inflammation and reduced TSH levels.  Increased inflammation is associated with increased depression.

Just the abstract available here.  Article states the complexity of hormones found in hormone metabolism.  I love the authors quote, "As steroid hormones are known to be converted to many other steroids occupying different receptors and thereby exerting various different effects..."  Doesn't fit into the "know your numbers" marketing deception does it?

Cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) was found to increase male Testosterone production in cell culture model.  This fits with other data that low vitamin D and low T often go hand in hand.  This study actually shows improved D levels increase Testicular Testosterone production, though in cell culture.
