Create a lesson that is built around a video. Students get to interact with the video as they watch it.

Nikki, I have this same page bookmarked on my Diigo, so I definitely find it very useful and inspiring. I think Ted talks are a great resource that we can use for our students! They have so many different Ted talks on very different issues, and being able to watch a video for a quick 15 minutes can catch the attention of the students. I also feel as though the Ted talks I have watched have been very inspirational and done very well! I would definitely be able to effectively use these resources in my future classroom. I believe this resources if for teachers to use and share good Ted Talks, but then those teachers are expected to share with their students. I would recommend following Ted Talks so you can see when they post new and similar videos.

This is brilliant! TED talks are so widely known and used in so many different walks of education! The ability to create and share lessons across such a well traveled network of people is phenomenal resource to help you find what you really need to get your things done. Khan Academy is a nonprofit with the mission of providing a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere. I use this site in my math class when we are starting a new unit. My student preview video lessons on this site, and do some practice problems to prepare for the next unit.

We just looked at this the other day in our online class! I definitely think this would be a really beneficial as a supplemental resource. Although I wonder would it be worthy enough to use in a lesson or in a classroom? By this I mean is it mainly working through slides and problems? Does it benefit to problem-based learning as much? To me it seems to be mainly for student use in that the teacher doesn't do much in helping other than giving them the links for it.

I definitely think that if I were to use this resource in my classroom, it would be supplemental to my lessons. If students were not understanding the content of the lesson, I would give them the link to the correct videos from this website and ask them to watch. I also could see myself asking students to get a username and log into the site to work on problems so that I could see their understanding of the concepts. I think this resource could be for both student and teacher use: the students watch the videos and work on the problems, the teachers see how students do on the problems and adjust their lessons as necessary. One thing I found interesting about this website is if you click "Test Prep," the only tests that are listed are SAT, MCAT, NCLEX-RN, GMAT, CAHSEE, IIT JEE, and... AP Art History (along with a couple of others that look to be in a different language than English). Why is AP Art History the only AP test included in the test prep?! I think this is an area that this website could expand upon, but don't get me wrong, I think this is a great resource. (In particular, the math videos and lessons of Khan Academy are very strong.)

This site is full of innovative ideas and resources to "spice up math class." I personally am excited to try out "Teacher TV" which provides videos of math lessons. I want to watch these lessons to see how other teachers may teach a lesson differently than I would. I may be able to reach more students this way.

Many of the tools come with tutorials and explanations of how teachers have incorporated the tool into their classrooms.

Wow, love the extensive lists and all of the ideas they have here. It helps to keep them all together on this site so I can remember where to look when I want to variety of ideas for something. Whenever I feel like I want to change up a lesson or add something "spicier" to it, I often turn to something-tech related, so now I can turn here. Thanks! I think this could be helpful for any teachers looking to add a little spice to their lessons. I always "pin" stuff like that, too, to keep all of my ideas collected together.

I love the part of this article that encourages educators to think of a lesson that needs some life and then to look at web 2.0 tools! Also there is a link that brings you to effective communication tools for web 2.0 that I found helpful. Definitely a great teacher tool so that they have a place to go to for ideas for sprucing up a lesson. Teachers are really starting to come around to ideas like this, and I see more integration in lessons everyday. Definitely check out the twitter handle!

I LOVE lesson cast, it offers great support for all teachers. You can practically find anything you are looking for. This is mainly for teacher use but students benefit from it based on the quality of lessons teachers are giving them.

I have never heard of LessonCast until your post. I looked around the website and I plan on adding into my personal diijp library because it seems like an awesome resource. I like how it has lessons that are already aligned with certain standards.

This looks like a great resource for math teachers! I love that she gives new tips with each entry. I can see where this could be a resource for teacher, but also, how students could benefit from some of resources that she posts about. Smithsonian website with resources and information about oceans, science, etc; features an "Educator's Corner" with lesson plans and activities.

Erin this looks like a great site for students who want to learn about the ocean. When I visited it I noticed just how easy the site was to navigate. Super simple for people who might now be to tech savvy. Everything was laid out in an easy to read manner. The articles looked fun and full of information. If I ever became a teacher and we were learning about the ocean this would be a huge help, because the Smithsonian is one of the most prestigious organizations in the world. The Smithsonian has many different interactive website that deal with all different parts of our planet, and the ocean is just on small sliver of their knowledge.

I really liked this website, and I remember liking the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, itself. The site is very user-friendly for both teachers and students.

This website is from the History channel and contains content about different events in past and present current events. The feature that I particularly like on this website is the This Day in History, where it tells about all the events that have happened on that current day in history. This can be utilized in history lessons for students to interact and research upon.

This website is a lot like the one Tabatha posted, I like that there are websites out there that can give a teacher multiple resources on just one page, it takes the search out of teaching, which is really appreciated from a busy teacher. This is mainly for teacher use, but students benefit.

This is a great resource! I actually just found this website today myself. I will have to follow them on Twitter. I like this article because it puts the ideas into a bulleted list. This way you can see the main points they want to make. I have found that I really like that about articles on Edutopia. What a great, teacher centered, article!

Alexis, I think this is a great resource for integrating technology in the classroom. I really like that it includes specific ideas and examples. While this resource is primarily aimed at teachers, the examples are definitely aimed at developing student activities. As a teacher, this is a great starting point for beginning technology integration. Edutopia seems to be a great resource overall, and I enjoyed looking through some of their other articles as well!

I plan to discuss with my 6th grade language arts students how social media has changed our language. I can use this as part of the digital literacy lessons that I plan to do this year and am currently working on creating.

Hi Trina, This article really peaked my interest as I've seen similar behaviors with my students. I think it is especially prevalent with secondary students as they are probably the most invested in social media platforms. I think that this could transition into a great digital literacy lesson talking about the difference between "internet speak" and proper grammar. I would love to see what you come up with based on this topic!

I found this article extremely relevant and something to definitely be shared with students and teachers. It could definitely cause issues in the classroom, but language is always changing so the classroom language will evolve with it. Something to keep in mind with my future classroom!
