Diigo Lists Add Sections Features Suggestions suggestion

Hi, a nice suggestion, and I don't disagree that it would be useful for lists that are unusually long.

    However, a couple of questions:

    1. When you extend a list that's already long: is the extension more for your benefit, or for the benefit of other readers?

    2. Similarly, when you order a long list in a particular way: is that combination of great length + order more for your benefit, or for the benefit of other readers?

    Glancing at
http://www.diigo.com/list/infoynet/templates?v=p and the more familiar collapsed view
http://www.diigo.com/list/infoynet/templates there's a great deal there and for anyone who wishes to filter out anything, the option is not present.

Normally at e.g. http://www.diigo.com/user/infoynet/Templates the related tags portlet appears at top right, allowing viewers to easily refine the results, condense the list.

(Side note: layout of that particular list is broken, cross reference http://groups.diigo.com/Diigo_HQ/forum/topic/48946#7 so related tags have fallen to the far end of the list.)

    Personally:

    * for short lists, I'm a great fan of order
    * beyond a certain (nebulous) length, I tend to prefer more flexible ways of representing information.

How do you find the tagging and related interfaces in Diigo 3 beta?

    Regards
    Graham

There's a previous topic on this subject, with a workaround … at the moment, I can't find the topic.

Reiterating that workaround, to the best of my recollection:

    1. in the first list

    2. select the bookmarks to be added to the other list

    3. add a unique, temporary tag e.g. otherlist

    4. select any occurrence of that tag (view those bookmarks in your library)

    5. switch to advanced view

    6. select

    7. add to the other list

    8. remove the temporary tag from your library.

Are you using Diigolet, or an installed version of Diigo?

    If installed, which version?

    With 5.1.0.1 added to Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-GB; rv:1.9.2.6) Gecko/20100625 Firefox/3.6.6 I can't reproduce the problem.

An item within a list can be dragged to your preferred position.

Sorting by time over-rides that position.
