What does "Sort by position" in a list signify? - 17 views

  Probably a dumb question. I end up changing my LISTs to sort by time, but I cannot figure out what the (default?) sort by POSITION signifies? thanks for any help

  An item within a list can be dragged to your preferred position.
  
  Sorting by time over-rides that position.
