Queste "pagine nascoste" del blog about di Amara sono strane: un pezzo di codice per embeddare un player con una trascrizione interattiva, comunicati stampa non datati, fra i quali questo: ora la cosa bizzarra è che è da un anno che Coursera ha smesso di usare Amara, e da 10 mesi che ha cancellato il suo team Amara. Il team di Khan Academy c'è ancora, ma è praticamente deserto.

Non è che capisca cosa significhi: ma è una pagina normalmente nascosta del blog about.amara.org il cui link mi è apparso in un momento di connessione lenta, e sembra una cosa interessante: infatti è da oltre un anno che i link sui codici temporali delle trascrizioni generate dai sottotitoli, che dovrebbero consentire la navigazione nel video, non funzionano. Perciò ben venga una trascrizione interattiva funzionante, come su TED.com, DotSUB.com e YouTube.com.

Raccolta di ottime lezioni adatte alla scuola dell'obbligo USA (K-12). Gratuito. Sovvenzionato dalla fondazione Melinda e Bill Gates... e hanno ragione. Ottimo per CLIL, ma c'è anche tutta una serie di video sulla grammatica inglese (seguiti da attività interattive interessanti)

Ha o non ha ragione il ministro Carrozza?

Non lo so, voi che ne pensate? A me pensare a bambini di scuola primaria con il libro digitale sul tablet mette una tristezza infinita, e tutto sommato un passaggio completo al digitale non lo vorrei nemmeno per gli altri ordini di scuola (non so, sono sempre stata affezionata al profumo dei libri, al rumore del lapis sulla carta...). Però dei VERI libri digitali interattivi (e aperti) sarebbero indubbiamente utilissimi in molti contesti e per molte materie.

Questo insegnante di matematica vuole spiegare ai suoi allievi cos'è una "flipped class". Vuole anche che questi si impegnino a collaborare costruttivamente con lui. Ha preparato un video molto chiaro e un file PDF che tutti dovranno leggere, sottoscrivere e consegnargli (firma dei genitori compresa). Si tratta di un insegnante tecnologicamente molto avanzato e organizzato, quindi l'esempio è un po' "spinto" se si pensa alla scuola italiana di oggi, ma i principi sono sacrosanti, e il metodo solo da aggiustare ai propri bisogni didattici!

If you're still jacked about the little girls video, that's okay, show it to your young girls, encourage them to explore science but let's have enough awareness to know when we're being sold something. My point with this little wander through video is let's advocate for student voice but not fake ones. Our students do have a voice. Most of them are childlike, full of child like ideas and most aren't as eloquent as adults because they aren't adults. That's what we're supposed to be doing, helping them develop that voice. Yet we do have some that are ready for prime time and we should provide ways for them to share. I know some districts have had students keynote. I think that's great, as long as the core of their story is their own, not the districts or their teachers. I'd way rather listen to a student share a less polished message that was their ow

"Most people who take massive open online courses already hold a degree from a traditional institution, according to a new paper from the University of Pennsylvania. The paper is based on a survey of 34,779 students worldwide who took 24 courses offered by Penn professors on the Coursera platform. The findings-among the first from outside researchers, rather than MOOC providers-reinforce the truism that most people who take MOOCs are already well educated. The Penn researchers sent the survey to students who had registered for a MOOC and viewed at least one video lecture. La mia recenzione di questo "helpout sugli helpout": "Ronnie was very patient and gave very clear answers. Io in effetti ho usato wikispaces fin ad ora a titolo personale http://limfab.wikispaces.com/ ,prima di passare più o meno tutto il materiale del wiki al sito web http://limfabweb.weebly.com/ (nella assurda illusione di completare qualcosa...) e appena potrò (famosa frase...) mi riprometto anche di ritornarci su. Come wiki per le classi ho usato invece Pbworks http://fabriziobartoliworkspace.pbworks.com/w/page/63273860/FrontPage, sopratutto l'anno passato, cercando di integrarlo con Google apps/drive che uso come piattaforma principale di condivisione. Ho incrociato qualche webinar su wikispaces classroom e così mi è venuta voglia di provare anche questo. Magari possiamo trovare il modo di usare qualche pagina insieme, con qualche classe, anche se all'atto non ho idea di cosa insegni (io insegno inglese scuola media)...

Questa discussione sul forum di aiuto di Amara - è nata da un bug generale nelle pagine Amara che streamavano video vimeo, poi risolto dagli sviluppatori Amara salvo in un caso, che ho poi sistemato alla carlona, sostituendo il file video che viene streamato nella pagina Amara. Da lì la discussione si è poi evoluta verso i grattacapi della compatibilità dei vari formati video con i vari browser.
