Scribus is an Open Source program that brings professional page layout to Linux, BSD UNIX, GNU/Hurd, Mac OS X, OS/2 Warp 4, eComStation, Haiku and Windows desktops with a combination of press-ready output and new approaches to page design. Underneath a modern and user-friendly interface, Scribus supports professional publishing features, such as color separations, CMYK and spot colors, ICC color management, and versatile PDF creation.

Vero e proprio OS (sistema operativo) che sostituisce gli altri sistemi operativi sulla LIM e dunque ha senso nell'aula scolastica. E' opensource. E' portabile, quindi - messo in chiavetta - può essere usato a casa dagli allievi. Contiene solo software libero (la suite di Libre Office, per citarne uno) e una serie di strumenti didattici fondamentali, compreso VoxOoFox per il riconoscimento vocale (per i dislessici, ad esempio). "ELAN is a professional tool for the creation of complex annotations on video and audio resources. With ELAN a user can add an unlimited number of annotations to audio and/or video streams. An annotation can be a sentence, word or gloss, a comment, translation or a description of any feature observed in the media. Annotations can be created on multiple layers, called tiers. Tiers can be hierarchically interconnected. An annotation can either be time-aligned to the media or it can refer to other existing annotations. Il software serve ad annotare video e audio: sembra piuttosto complesso ma è prodotto e offerto dal progetto The Language Archive dell'Istituto Max Plank dei Paesi Bassi, perciò sembra abbastanza sicuro. Ho installato la versione per Mac: poi provo e riporto

Questa discussione sul forum di aiuto di Amara - è nata da un bug generale nelle pagine Amara che streamavano video vimeo, poi risolto dagli sviluppatori Amara salvo in un caso, che ho poi sistemato alla carlona, sostituendo il file video che viene streamato nella pagina Amara. Da lì la discussione si è poi evoluta verso i grattacapi della compatibilità dei vari formati video con i vari browser.
