Sophisticated automation is changing the method by which reservations are requested and accepted. Never before have hotels had reservations coming into their property from so many varied directions. Legislation is being considered for presentation to Congress which would require divestiture of CRS by individual airlines. The bill would prevent any airline from owning more than ten percent of a CRS system that list flights and schedules of other carrier. The justification for this is that the airlines often find a way around any rules the US government enacts, including present ones.

This article briefly summarizes how the The Serai resort in the coffee country of the Indian state Karnataka has been harvesting rain water to use for watering their gardens. This article doesn't go into too much detail itself but I did some other research and found that this region of India only gets 8% of their annual rainfall in the months of January-May. This really puts a strain on the region and being able to harvest and store rainwater from the wet season helps especially with superfluous water usage like watering and maintaining hotel gardens. The state made it mandatory to reduce water waste and The Serai has created a surplus. It is especially important for them due to the drastic differences of the dry and rainy seasons but this could be applied almost anywhere. Part of the draw of some hotels is their scenery and gardens but watering these can get expensive and become a waste, especially if there are people in the area who go without a reliable source of drinking water. I think policies like this should be instituted everywhere. I have to give the Serai resort a lot of credit too. Yes, they were forced to start capturing and storing rain water but it seems like they have taken their green initiatives a step further and do more than the bare minimum.

While food trucks have become extremely popular these days, they have been around as early as the 1800's! After September 2011 alot of changes have occured in airline and airports throughout the world. TSA has purchased, trained, and introduced innovative machinery that can easily detect authorized items inside luggages. The US governement have spend alot of money also to simply protect the nation from terrorists and any form on violence especially in the hospitality and tourism industry. Alot of th airlines have changed the way they used to operate before the attacks; for instance food is no longer served on airplanes, and more fees are charged for luggages and definitely more screening in airport terminals. The introduction of air marshalls and new machinery have definitely changed the perspective of traveling nowadays, travelers have to wait longer to be screened and to even get out of the plane after the plane have landed at its destination. On a positive note, everything that have changed is for our own safety as citizen of the US and i personally believe moew things should be implemented if it can only improve the way we are being protected.

This article is about the new new anti-spam laws that will be enforced in 2013 by the Canadian government. What was pretty interesting was the fact that 60 percent of American marketing companies were unaware of the new law. Funny thing is that most of those who were aware decided that they would simply resort to other forms of spam like telemarketing and postal mail.

In the video we had about e-wastes, people cannot really know where their dumped devices would be and most of them are not really care about recycling. This new ATM can collect used devices directly from users and the company which is doing this is definitely certified by government which will follow the laws and recycle them. This machine eliminates the possible that people just dump the devices, because they will be motivated by the value of recycling;. This is not really a cutting edge technology, but the meaning of this is that it can increase the percentage of e-wastes recycling.

I think it's pretty sad to see that people would try and take advantage of such a wonderful environmental and economic system. Asides from now being able to turn in your cell phone for monetary value and recycling purposes, you can also donate your used to battered women shelters, I have done this before. Although, the phone would not fully work if there was no service provider, women would still be able to make emergency phone calls should they have to.

Green initiative has a great value for both economy and environment. Some countries' governments had drafed some regulations supporting this concept of development. Canada is one of the most early contries focusing on thise issues. The Cnadian Intellectual Property Office is mainly responsible for detail jobs related to green technology developing and spreading. They made some standerds toward some primary industries in both demastic and international market. Nowadays, they plan to update their strategies and standards to make these industries more productivity and eco-friendly. All of the agencies or ministries regarding to these issues attmpt to iprove their ability to solve green product problems through a proaction approach. In my opinion, all of these efforts are benefit to sustaianable development of local economy and society.

This has become not only in hotel industry but many other civil industries in my country which is Viet Nam and other Southeast Asia as well, since we are facing rapidly construction for last couple years; therefore, this has become not only a trend but a need to maintain the sustainable environment. It can be very difficult for hotels to practice an Eco-friendly stay for travelers with water, energy , and waste being consumed 24/7. FIFA has paid noticeable attention to the environmental impact of the World Cup since the 2006 World Cup and green management has increased with every World Cup since with the biggest plans already staged for years 2018 and 2022. The Green Goal environmental program has been in effect since 2005 when FIFA partnered with Local Organizing Committees (LOCs) in order to champion green initiatives. This program has been adapted for every World Cup since. The program combines the resources of host cities, governmental departments, local environmentalists and international partners. Now, FIFA is implementing green initiatives into the bidding process for 2018 and 2022 by requesting information pertaining to the reduction and control of negative environmental impacts from bidders prior to making a decision on where to host the World Cup. In my opinion, FIFA has adequately worked towards environmental sustainability over the past ten years and has powerful plans to continue and improve green initiatives going forward. Previously, the indoctrination of the Green Goal program in 2005 laid the foundation for green goals and growth. Each subsequent World Cup has relied on a Green Goal program to set and measure environmental initiatives. Also, FIFA has already begun working on the Green Goal for 2018 and 2022 by requiring potential host destinations to incorporate environmental sustainability into the management structure of the mega-event. Management is required to set measurable objectives in six key areas: water, waste, energy, transportation, procurement and climate change. In addition, potential host destinations are required to plan and explain how they will incorporate stakeholders and the community via an Environmental Advisory Board. All of these aspects must be outlined in the bid submitted for consideration by FIFA and will be weighed heavily during the host location decision process.

FIFA's decision to use involved green standards as part of the bidding process for World Cups 2018 and 2022 is ingenious. The rigorous standards and expectations eliminate cities that are unwilling or unable to do the research and prep work required for the environmental concerns associated with such a large and prestigious event. However, these same circumstances caused increased competition between the remaining cities and come with some sort of financial cost. The increased competition between potential host cities and the associated higher costs pertaining to the implementation of green strategies may be seen as negatives to involved commercial/government entities and community conservatives. The following comparison explains how this may be so. Companies often design buildings with minimal closets despite having a large need for storage space. The philosophy behind this is "closets don't make money." On the contrary, entertainments space (i.e. Casinos), larger sales floors (i.e. Car Dealerships) and management offices are all spaces in which money is generate and therefore income is maximized by maximizing the "money-generating space" and minimizing spaces (i.e. closets) that do not do so. Similarly, green initiatives guarantee extra expenses and do not generate a significantly increased income. Some entities may view green initiatives as "closets." In conclusion, FIFA is a powerful force in the green initiative campaign. The organization has worked tirelessly the last 15 years to implement and improve environmental initiatives related to the World Cup. Despite the outside chance that a significant portion of the population will view green initiatives as costly non-necessities, I believe that FIFA's Green Goal program will be a success. It provides an expanding platform for each subsequent Word Cup by requiring environmental initiatives to be implemented at the management level and begin at the earliest point possible: bidding.

SERI is multi-stakeholder group made up of the Environmental Protection Agency, Regulators, Trade Associations, and many others to commit to recycling in a non-harmful way electronic waste, more commonly known as e-waste. This article is about how hotels should take advantage of solar energy. Hotels are becoming more green, whether it be by switching to LED lighting, more efficient equipment, key card that deactivate power in the room or movement sensors in corridors, they are doing what they can to be more energy efficient. However they should do more by installing solar panels. Solar panels will save tons of money in the short run and the long run. Government is giving lots of benefits to the companies that are going green. Hotels that switch to solar panels can receive tax credit. There have been hotels that save an average of $7,400-$8,800 per month when they switched to solar panels. I believe it will be very beneficial for many businesses to switch to solar panels.

This is a smart move, both from a environmental and a cost cutting perspective as refillable containers will likely reduce costs over the long run. As there is a rush to fix emission gases in our ozone, some scientists are invented new technology to help eliminate CO2 gases in our air.
