"Children who regularly walk or cycle to school are less likely to be overweight or obese than those who travel by car or public transport, a new study suggests. Based on results from more than 2000 primary-age schoolchildren from across London, the researchers found that walking or cycling to school is a strong predictor of obesity levels, a result which was consistent across neighbourhoods, ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds. The results are reported in the journal BMC Public Health."

The questions start out very easy and adapt to the performance of the player. The questions are read out and some are displayed on the screen. Using a Google Sheets template, you can create nice timelines with embedded images, videos, sound files, etc. They play nicely on mobile devices, as well However, they must be published to the web on a desktop/laptop computer, even if they are created on a mobile device.

So why is it that the OER article on Wikipedia carries the site's second-lowest quality rating? It's not just one article - the Open Access article shows room for improvement; the Open Educational Practices article doesn't exist; and numerous related articles could be improved as well.

In the book, "Literacy is Not Enough," the authors talk about media fluency and the fact that students need to be able to communicate with multimedia as well as they do with text. We are seeing this trend in so many places, and this site offers some great examples in "visual resumes." Sample projects like this take the digital portfolio so many schools have developed to the next level.

David Puttnam spoke in Dublin tonight - he had some interesting ideas including ORACY - A web definition explains "oracy" as…used to describe a person's ability to efficiently communicate with others via the spoken word as well as to fully understand oral communication. Wilkinson…created the word to emphasize the need for school children to be able to fully use oral skills as an essential basis for learning and social integration. It is an analogy for the words numeracy and literacy, and aids in bringing the focus of oral skill on par with reading and writing in the classroom.

Odosketch is a free online sketchpad that, like many similar sites, provides a blank canvas on which you can create drawings from scratch. You can save your work to a free Odosketch account, share it online, or download it. Odosketch's niche appears to be creating drawings with "charcoal pencil" effects. Odosketch is well suited to use on touch screen computers and interactive whiteboards

Modules to take students through many concepts in Algebra. It includes introductory "hook" questions as well as videos to explain concepts. Some of the videos would be great to show in class to motivate the students! Also a great resource for students who need additional assistance.
