In a foreign language class this would be a good tool to have students describe an image, record their voices, and listen to what others have recorded.
The cloud and online learning are key trends and opportunities to transform education today. And with today's launch and availability of Office 365 for education, schools now have a holistic collaboration platform that will change the game. As schools face ever-tightening budgets and the pressure to innovate, Microsoft is offering enterprise quality technology for free that will modernize teaching practices and help prepare students for the jobs of tomorrow.
When principals hear the words Twitter and Facebook they cringe. Immediately, visions of excessive socialization, time wasted, and meaningless conversations in the form of updates come to mind. This is true, in many cases, when these tools are used for personal use. I am here to share ways in which principals can harness the power of these free resources to improve communications, public relations, professional growth, instruction, and create a brand presence for your school. Quite simply, social media tools such as Twitter and Facebook have improved my effectiveness and efficiency as an educational leader.
Not really finding this video as helpful. Twitter has been a round for a while and I am very acquainted with its uses. Note - video was created in 2009...four years ago!
There is NO WAY it is acceptable to friend our students on facebook. I agree that we should not make social media the elephant in the room. I just do not see how it is appropriate to be friends with a student on facebook.
I would challenge kids to use their OWN digital devices (iPhones, etc) and see if they can make connections with what they see to what they are learning in school!
Globe on Wii for Geography is obviously a HUGE engagement for kids! Internet browser...so what...they can do that on a computer. Wii Sports....of course the kids enjoy it, but who has time for it?
The goal of this collaborative wiki is to "unmask the digital truth" with respect to the reasons some leaders today are overfiltering and overblocking web 2.0 sites in schools and libraries, and provide reasonable alternatives which support broader student and teacher access to these sites.
Perhaps the easiest Wiki I've ever scene. Anyone, and I mean anyone, can now create a wiki for use with their students or to share information with colleagues. I wonder what their business model is and how long they will be able to sustain this approach, but until then I plan on using orb.com with teachers as a great entry point tool.
Really cool! Watch and make your own Google Search stories - videos on how to do searches of specific types. Would be good for students/educators to create to assist others in specific searches.
