"In a recent post, Edudemic introduced us to a very intricate, color-coded visualization by Envisioning Tech on what to expect in education technology in the next 30 years or so. And these concepts are not broad generalizations- Envisioning Tech takes topics like digitized classrooms and tangible computing and segments them into practical ideas to produce a well-organized, cohesive diagram"

Moodle Tool Guide for Teachers - Cat's Pyjamas - 115 views

  • A few weeks ago, a Social Media Cheat Sheet was doing the round. A nice visualization of the pro’s & cons of each social media channel, but with a business/marketing focus. I thought I should do one for social media use in education. However for most of the teachers I work with, our Moodle (EIT Online) is still their primary online teaching environment. So instead I set out to create this poster size guide for teachers, allowing them to compare the functionality and pedagogical advantages of some standard Moodle tools, adding a column to indicate how tricky the tool is to set up.

Debategraph - 10 views

  •
DebateGraph is an award-winning, cloud-based service that offers individuals and communities a powerful way to learn about and deliberate and decide on complex issues. It does so by enabling communities of any size to externalize, visualize, question, and evaluate all of the considerations that any member thinks may be relevant to the topic at hand - and by facilitating intelligent, constructive dialogue within the community around those issues. Moreover, each public map contributes to, and forms part of an accumulating graph of structured understanding across a growing range of topics, which, as the topics intersect, accelerates and enriches each community's understanding of the topics each is addressing.

From a review by Alice Yoo (here: http://mylifescoop.com/featured-stories/2011/05/top-6-sites-that-inspire-and-educate.html) "Information is Beautiful was started by London-based writer and designer David McCandless. It's a blog that takes information - facts, data, ideas - and turns it into well-designed charts, graphs and data visualizations. Relevant to not just designers but anyone who appreciates statistics and facts, this site will not only keep you entertained, it will educate you on the world we live in." Love infographics - love to be able to do them as well as these people!

Why Teachers Want Technology (And Why They Can't Have It) - Edudemic - 0 views

  • What do teachers want? A new study from PBS Learning Media details (in a highly visual manner) exactly what teachers want these days. From budgets to technology to web tools to increased engagement, it’s all here. The following infographic is definitely worth printing out and posting around your school. If you’re in the middle of determining what teachers, students, and parents want in your district, use this as a jumping off point to start the discussion. Key Findings Just 1 in 5 teachers say they have the right amount of technology in their classroom The biggest hurdle to getting improved technology? Budget. Teachers want new technology because it provides new learning experiences and a motivation to learn. Web 2.0 tools are the most-used pieces of technology in the classroom.
