This is my latest blog post - it is about my draft ICT / Social media policy for secondary (high) schools. You can read and comment on it here. I would really like your feedback. Here is an excerpt! My primary source was Katie Lepi's Crowdsourced School Social Media Policy Now Available (here). Her work is based on over four-hundred crowd sourced edits! I have specifically included her in the Creative Commons license. I was also influenced by Doug Belshaw's Acceptable Use Policy - feedback required! (here).The comments on his posting are very interesting! I was inspired by Max Senge's A hippocratic Oath for Techies & Policymakers (here). Its simplicity is its strength!

This is a must try site which provides an amazing 3D world which teaches English and maths core skills. Players race against two other randomly chosen online players of a similar level. The questions start out very easy and adapt to the performance of the player. The questions are read out and some are displayed on the screen. The player just clicks on the correct multiple choice answer to increase their speed. There is a download for PCs and Macs as well as apps for iPad and Android. There are teacher accounts which allow you to make logins for lots of children quickly. When there log in students will be asked to design an avatar. Because the resource requires a sizeable download it takes a little time to set up, but because it runs on your local device game play is very smooth and quick. http://ictmagic.wikispaces.com/ICT+%26+Web+Tools

A social network where posts are translated into 36 languages and reads them out at the click of a button. http://ictmagic.wikispaces.com/ICT+%26+Web+Tools

A very useful QR code site where you can type a 100 character message which is read out with a voice synthesiser when the code is scanned. http://ictmagic.wikispaces.com/ICT+%26+Web+Tools

This is a good online bookmarking and read later service. Drag and drop the bookmarking button into your bookmark toolbar to save in one click. View and organise your bookmarks using lists and tags. http://ictmagic.wikispaces.com/ICT+%26+Web+Tools

One of a host of Etherpad inspired collaborative notepads, but with a few little extra features, like being able to make a link to a read only page. http://ictmagic.wikispaces.com/ICT+%26+Web+Tools

A useful site where you can type a message and it is read out using a voice synthesiser. There doesn't seem to be a limit to the length of the message. You can share the link to share the message. You can change the pitch, speed and more. It's a great way of giving instructions or homework over the net. http://ictmagic.wikispaces.com/ICT+%26+Web+Tools

It didn't work.

A great online publishing site. Upload pdf files and read them online like a professional magazine. Uploading is a little fiddly the first time you do it, but it will be worth it. http://ictmagic.wikispaces.com/ICT+&+Web+Tools

A well made resource for practising typing skills. It has been designed for children and has a easy to use and read display. There are 28 levels and lots of other options to try. http://ictmagic.wikispaces.com/ICT+%26+Web+Tools

Planning a speech? Use this online autocue with your class when making movies or as part of a reading exercise. http://ictmagic.wikispaces.com/ICT+&+Web+Tools

There is an excellent book called "How to get things done" .. I now swear by this common sense system. For teachers this is well worth a read if you can get your hands on a copy.
