    Excellent perspective on "The 'W' Word" - use it wisely for what it is - high school and college kids shouldn't be citing any general knowledge encyclopedias for serious research - but that doesn't mean there aren't some excellent uses for it.

  • My students have joined the Group. Now when they go to their web-logs, after logging in to their Diigo account and setting "Show Annotations > Show Group Annotations" on their Diigo toolbar, they will see the highlights of specific passages from their writing that I have left (and I can start students doing this too, it occurs to me in a very attractive flash), and my annotations will pop up on their screen when they hover their mouse over the highlights.Also good, our Diigo Groups Bookmarks page records all highlights and annotations I have made on one page. Students can use that to see all feedback I have given to specific strengths and weaknesses on all students writings.And since they're using anagrams instead of first-name usernames on their blogs, there's less of a chance of any embarrassment resulting from this "public feedback"--with "invisible ink."

    This is a must try site which provides an amazing 3D world which teaches English and maths core skills. Players race against two other randomly chosen online players of a similar level. The questions start out very easy and adapt to the performance of the player. The questions are read out and some are displayed on the screen. The player just clicks on the correct multiple choice answer to increase their speed. There is a download for PCs and Macs as well as apps for iPad and Android. There are teacher accounts which allow you to make logins for lots of children quickly. When there log in students will be asked to design an avatar.     This week they are talking about having multiple users being able to log into chrome at once. This is not the "sign-on as a different user" setting in Google Apps, but rather being able to have a second set of bookmarks, formdata, theme and more by signing in as a second user into chrome.
