BuzzFeed Embraces Sponsored Content to Tap Social-Media Sharing - WSJ.com - 0 views

  •
While two years old, this piece really does cement the importance of sites such as Buzzfeed and their business (money making) model. In their words: "But the sharing of sponsored content is the centerpiece of BuzzFeed's business model. Mr. Peretti is so sure about the premise that he has dispensed with traditional banner advertising entirely." And it's true, one of the reasons I enjoy reading through both political news and ridiculous lists is because there is that simplicity in sharing an article at a moment's notice, without feeling intrusive.

With the whole content first idea for mobile sites, it's sometimes hard to maintain they're aesthetics when you're quite simply, trying to put the information on the page. However, these sites nailed it.

Article profiles a startup called Jana Mobile, which recently released a marketing platform called "Marketplace," a platform designed to bring mobile users in emerging markets together with brands. Is the 2nd Screen Really the 1st Screen for Millennials? - 0 views

  •
the millennials are changing the way people think about watching tv. the big screen is on but we are on another device. even without the big screen we are watching more and more television on mobile devices.
  •
I think the headline of this article is a good way to put it. Is it true? I would say probably so. The article avoids committing to too many opinions - which screen are people really paying attention to? Who knows? It's a legitimate question.
  •
This isn't really what the article was about, but I love branded content stuff like this when it's done thoughtfully: "A recent example is Chipotle, which recently launched an original Hulu series on factory farming to promote their brand beliefs."
