While two years old, this piece really does cement the importance of sites such as Buzzfeed and their business (money making) model. In their words: "But the sharing of sponsored content is the centerpiece of BuzzFeed's business model. Mr. Peretti is so sure about the premise that he has dispensed with traditional banner advertising entirely." And it's true, one of the reasons I enjoy reading through both political news and ridiculous lists is because there is that simplicity in sharing an article at a moment's notice, without feeling intrusive.

Buzzfeed is huge among 20 somethings. Not a day goes by that I don't see a buzzfeed article on my newsfeed. They know how to reach their target audience. We like gifs, a fair amount of wit, something short and to the point, and something that's opinionated. Buzzfeed has nailed it.

This is something I never thought of until I stumbled upon this story, but it's so true. Aps that sync right to your home page are really valuable. Take facebook, twitter, instagram....they all show up on your lock screen when you have updates.
