Truss Me can be used in "challenge" mode or in "free play" mode. The challenge mode contains fifteen activities in which students are awarded points for strength and efficiency of their structures. For example, if a structure holds the weight but uses too many parts it doesn't receive as many points as a structure using fewer parts while supporting the same weight. Structures that won't work at all fall apart."

"Rolling out iPads in our schools in some ways as mirrored my bowling experience as a youth.  We've given some basic direction and support but sometimes the ball flew backward (like when we went from iOS 4.3 to 5.0). Classroom Presenter is a Tablet PC-based interaction system that supports the sharing of digital ink on slides between instructors and students. When used as a presentation tool, Classroom Presenter allows the integration of digital ink and electronical slides, making it possible to combine the advantages of whiteboard style and slide based presentation. The ability to link the instructor and student devices, and to send information back and forth provides a mechanism for introducing active learning into the classroom and creates additional feedback channels.

Significant disruptions are occurring throughout the State of Queensland due to natural disasters. This website provides schools, teachers and parents with the capability to support student learning activities during possible school closures or where students or teachers are unable to physically attend school.

This format could be easily replicated by teachers wanting to support students who are confined. The Scholastic siite "features 20 days of grade-level, ready-to-print language arts and math pages, along with content-related online activities. Stay Smart! provides students with important skills practice to help them stay on track when they can't get to school."

"Go into any office today and you'll notice that 1:1 does not exist. To operate effectively in today's workplace, at the very least, a 2:1 environment, with a computer and a phone, is required. "Primary source documents, especially photographs, are powerful tools for grabbing the attention of students.  Sometimes it's challenging to find the right picture to connect to a historical fiction literature circle or to support a Social Studies lesson.  I'm a big fan of Google Image searches but another option is to check out the LIFE photo archive hosted by Google.  You can search over a hundred years worth of photographs by typing in a keyword or choosing a specific event or time period.  This is a terrific resource for teachers who work with students of any age!"
