I'm not using delicious but you might:

    * focus on some of the suspect bookmarks in delicious
    * consider the bookmark collections of other delicious users who have that same bookmark
    * consider whether the bookmark and tags are congruous with their collection
    * if you're inclined, contact one of those users to see whether you have in common any services other than delicious.

    Kind regards
    Graham

Sue, re http://www.diigo.com/annotated/323183ba1bdc784c6f1d9a76954d3af3 you might like to contact Philipp; he, too, uses Delicious and has (or had) issues with bookmarks.

For as long as lists and groups were less than clear, I was careful to _not_ use the word 'list'.

Whether the co-operative management will involve lists, or tagging, or some combination of the two, I don't know yet. I'll await Diigo feature evolution before giving it more thought.

group bookmarks Expand Collapse inconsistency bug gpd4
  • Graham Perrin

I can't reproduce the issue now but a few minutes ago at
    http://groups.diigo.com/Diigo_HQ/bookmark I found that the
    Expand All / Collapse All
toggle was not effective on one of the bookmarks. AFAIR: one that I had been expanding/collapsing, and it may have been after I added a group sticky note to one of the highlights.

@ Diigo developers: no need to follow up on this one. Probably exceptional.

Seeing http://groups.diigo.com/Diigo_HQ/forum/topic/6758 (October) reminded me of this topic http://groups.diigo.com/Diigo_HQ/forum/topic/8775 (November).

This observation is purely for the record. AFAIR the issue has not recurred since 27th November.

This bug is rare, minor/negligible but still present (albeit not always reproducible).

    = Actions =

    1. a few minutes ago at http://groups.diigo.com/Diigo_HQ/bookmark I deleted a bookmark

    2. Expand All

    = Bug =

Only two of the annotations expanded; others remained collapsed:
    Thanks ImageShack!

    - AFAIR the ones that failed to expand were *below* the position of the bookmark that had been deleted moments earlier.

    = Actions =

    3. reload page, and wait for reload to complete

    4. Expand All

    = Bug =

Only one of the annotations expanded; others remained collapsed:
    Thanks ImageShack!

    = Actions =

    5. reload page, and wait for reload to complete

    6. Expand All

    7. success:
    Thanks ImageShack!

    Postscript: added screen shots.

    Smells like a bug.

    Both
    http://www.diigo.com/bookmark/http://280slides.com and
http://about.diigo.com/about/http%3A%2F%2F280slides.com%2F show public highlights but Diigo 3.1.6.5 (added to Firefox 3.0.4 on Mac OS X 10.5.5) presents none:

    Thanks ImageShack!
  • Graham Perrin

Probably _not_ a bug. Reviewing this topic:

    1. Highlights alone are most often: private.

    2. Only when someone sticks - to a highlight - a note that is public does the combination of the two become public.

    3. Highlights and sticky notes aside: comments that are public should be visible.

    ----

In the screen shot to my previous message, I offered a possibly bad example - sorry! The home page of site gains exceptional protection:

    * to discourage debris/overlays on home pages, there are restrictions on the types of annotations that may be made; highlighting is prevented.

It would be nice if sent invitations appeared in My Messages | Sent.

The text that accompanies an invitation is sometimes carefully thought-through - I tend to not issue invitations unless I'm willing to hold a person's hand for a while after joining. The loss of the text is a waste (but not a show-stopper ;)

A Diigo list entitled 'apples and oranges' is misrepresented as 'Apples And Oranges'

WebSlides should not change case of user-inputted texts.

Preservation of case is especially important in contexts where abbreviations, acronyms etc. appear.

http://slides.diigo.com/list/grahamperrin/apples-oranges is not the best example (this list was experimental) but you get the idea ;)

    1. in Safari, create a Diigo list

    2. bring Firefox to foreground

    3. try to add to the list

    = Bug =

The menu available of lists does not present the required list.

    = Workaround =

    In Firefox:

    a. sign out from Diigo

    b. sign in.

    = Underlying issue =

List features are missing from Diigolet. (Elsewhere in this forum, there's a topic on the subject.)
  • Graham Perrin

For a more recently created list, the workaround was not necessary.

    A server/timing issue, perhaps?

(If the user should allow a little time before aiming to add to their newly-created list, simply say so :)

Not long ago the entire contents of my Firefox navigation toolbar disappeared, completely. Where one there were buttons, there remained only a grey space. I wasted some considerable time trying to figure out a solution and it annoyed me greatly.

In my case, and in Fenman's case, I suspect conflicts between add-ons/extensions.

    AFAIR my solution was to

    1. disable all extensions to Firefox

    2. quit from Firefox

    3. launch Firefox

    4. enable preferred extensions

    5. quit from Firefox

    6. launch Firefox

    7. customise Firefox toolbar.

Today, a few parts of my Diigo 3.1.6.5 toolbar are missing but the workaround described above does not help.

    Good luck

WebSlides: options to loop/repeat, randomise - 93 views

WebSlides slides.diigo.com loop load performance suggestion gpd4
  • Graham Perrin

The penny has dropped. With one hopefully minor improvement, WebSlides will be a close to *PERFECT* solution to something that's bugged me for the past five years (since our move to a new building).

Please, can Diigo add an option to _loop_ the presentation?

I see that looping is already possible for the background music but (unless I'm missing something) not for the collection of slides.

    As background:

    * I would use WebSlides for looping presentation, of a Diigo collection (of pages), to the plasma display in the interior 'street' of our building

    * the collection to be displayed will be managed co-operatively by a Diigo group.

An additional option - randomise - would be nice but not essential.

    Many thanks
    Graham
  • Graham Perrin

    @ Diigo

Might an infinite slide show present a problem in terms of load/performance?

I imagine that second and subsequent loops (repeats) of a show should gain the vast majority of content from a local cache (not loading all from diigo.com for each and every loop/repeat). Is that guess good or bad?

I know it's well over a year since Diigo WebSlides was announced … only now do I realise how useful they can be!

I never pictured myself as a presenter, with an audience. To me, the idea of preparing a presentation was always a chore. Masses of copying, pasting, formatting and abstracting - and very much a _one-way_ process (reinforced by the 'show' that's implicit in PowerPoint .pps and comparable read-only formats).

Now, I'll _certainly_ use WebSlides for presentations and - more importantly - for audience participation and feedback.

    An excellent innovation. Thanks, Diigo!
