    Men with low T and elevated Leptin, have Leptin normalized with Testosterone therapy.  In obese men, Leptin is inversely associated with Testosterone.  This points to more cause/effect relationship with low T, elevated Leptin, and obesity in men.

    Study looked at low T in men with type 1 Diabetes.  Only abstract available here.  Study finds appx 10% prevalence with age, waist circumference and insulin requirements as predictive of low T in men with type 1 Diabetes.

    low testosterone and increased inflammation found in men with cancer and cachexia.  The question is: if inflammation is part of the development of cancer, and low T is associated with increased inflammation, then we need to be adequately evaluating men for low T and inflammation for prevention.  That is true prevention.

    testosterone therapy has tremendous cardiovascular benefit in men with low T.  The key here is physiologic replacement of Testosterone.  Testosterone is a vasodilator and anti-inflammatory agent in men with low T.  Testosterone therapy improves cardiac function in those with DHF and angina.  Testosterone is found to be a Ca++ channel blocker--anyone say hypertension treatment?

    Interesting study. In this study group, 36% of type II diabetes with ED had low Testosterone.  This fits with the estimated 40% of those with Diabetes have low T. What is really interesting about this study is that the degree of improvement with ED by Sildenfafil was dependent on the Testosterone level in the low T group.  Meanining that Testosterone therapy in these men would probably be more of a therapy directed at the cause and not Sildenafil.  Of course, the Testosterone therapy would benefit glucose regulation as well documented in the literature.

    pubmed review of 33 years finds mix bag on low T. Low T clearly associated with increased hypertension, dyslipidemia, atherosclerosis, thrombosis, cardiac dysfunction, and CV events.  Studies on Testosterone therapy in resolution of these dysfunctions are low.  This article claims there is a lack of evidence.  That is not true.

    Study finds that men with opiated induced low T have improvement in pain with Testosterone therapy.  Opiates are one of the many causes of low Testosterone (see my book Man Boob Nation).  Low T has been associated with increase inflammation in men.  Thus a normalization of Testosterone would provide anti-inflammatory effects.

    Three month study of men with low T, found that Testosterone therapy improved insulin sensitivity and reduced leptin levels.  The group of men here were described as "healthy, non-obese men".   Remember, low T is a biomarker of poor health in men, so the authors statement about the study group is inaccurate.  This also points to a relatively quick metabolic effect by Testosterone and a direct effect on insulin receptor effect and adipocyte leptin release.

    ER beta agonists shown to be anti-proliferative in the prostate and "ablated preexisting prostatic epithelial hyperplasia".  This has important implications: low T conditions increase ER alpha expression, which increases ER alpha production.  Low T is a pro inflammatory state in men, which increases aromatase activity.  Thus increase conversion of T to E2 in the stroma of the prostate results in growth.  ER beta is not activated.

    Low free Testosterone associated muscle loss in Japanese women.  This points to other studies that low T can cause problems in women--in this case muscle loss.  Like many things, Testosterone in women is likely a "U" shaped curve of function: low and high are bad with physiologic therapy good.

    Men with Low T often have low vitamin D levels.  This study found better results with calcidiol versus cholecalciferol in raising 25-hydroxyvitamin D.
