    ADT therapy with abiraterone inhibits androgen production from both testicular and adrenal origins.  This study finds that a decrease in androgen production through ADT did not always equal a decrease in PSA, indicating other mechanisms of prostate cancer profession.

    Interesting animal study finds that the brain can make sex hormones, DHEA and Testosterone in this article, de novo from cholesterol.  This is one mechanism by which the body can adapt to low T.  This also brings to light the effects that low adrenal output can have on T as well.

    Inflammatory cytokines appear to inhibit hormone production at the levels of the adrenal glands, testes, and ovaries.  This is in addition to suppression at the level of the hypothalamus and pituitary.  One proposed mechanism is via a reduction of sensitivity of the testes to LH.
