Identidad digital - 2 views

  •

Norway Is Digitizing All Its Books - 3 views

"In a plan to scan all of its publications to the cloud, the National Library of Norway is digitalizing its books, and it and plans to make them all freely available to users with a Norwegian IP address. The library plans to have the project completed in about 15 to 20 years."

This is such a great initiative! And it falls under common sense, why would the documents obtained by legal deposit not be available for all the population of a country? Seeing my own country, Canada, reducing the acquisitions under legal deposit while others makes it more visible and accessible makes me want to weep.

"Nine Themes of Digital Citizenship - Digital citizenship can be defined as the norms of appropriate, responsible behavior with regard to technology use. 1. Digital Access: full electronic participation in society. Technology users need to be aware that not everyone has the same opportunities when it comes to technology."

A New Digital Divide? - NZ Commons - 0 views

  •
"So why do we have an emerging digital divide in society where one group has easy and instant access to new research often funded out of the public purse yet others face significant costs, delays or barriers to accessing knowledge?" "In the past, one might have expected society's 'critics and consciences' to be located in universities. Now many of these voices, including some who have retired, are outside these institutions."

Protecting Your Digital Identity - 4 views

  •
I have many identities through many social media. When I post things online I wonder if I am being responsible of what I am posting. Even though I pick the people who are allowed to see my post, sometimes I wonder if people I do not know visit my profile. It is great to connect with people around the world. However, we have to take caution of what we post and whom we connect with. We need to protect our digital identities and be careful of hackers. If we are not careful, we can have our identity stolen.

Yes, it is our responsibility not to leave any personal information on internet instead of blaming fraudsters. If we use the technology gadgets appropriately it benefits us a lot else many problems too.
  •
I totally agree! I think protecting our digital identities is really important. I personally is a multi-social media user, I used Pinterest, Facebook, Weibo, Instagram etc. and I also write blog sometime. However i realize that for some of the social media digital platform is not allow you to delete everything all at once, and sometime if you want to make your blog post private after you have published it, but the system wouldn't let you do that. Also so many social media platform are actually tracking your location by suing the gps ect. Right now I really feel like need to be aware when using social media and be aware when you are trying to post something online.
  •
Thanks for the reminder once again to be wary of what and where we post online and the implications behind posting or leaving our digital identities online. I often forget that my information can easily be tracked, seen, manipulated, stolen by others when I participate in online activities such as social media sites, online shopping, and/or any other applications that requires submitting personal information.

Digital Literacy, Information Literacy and Connectivism - 7 views

"Have you ever wondered just what the difference is between digital and information literacy? Or how they are connected to each other? Those are important questions because for librarians, the conversation is almost always about information literacy, and digital literacy sometimes takes a backseat to that."

What Is Your Digital Identity - 1 views

  •
The Website helps people to define their digital identities and then control their identities. I think it is useful and necessary. People always post something online and then don't know what the effect is. All these information online becomes their identities. However, the information may hurt them in the future if someone bad exposes them in a different way and in a different situation. Many singers and artists suffer from this kind of thing. So, i think it is useful to tell people how they can create a appropriate digital identity.

Every time we send emails, post on social media or simply surf the web we are leaving behind digital DNA. The binary tattoo is a really effective way to manage our social media footprint!

Privacy and digital identity - 5 views

Interesting lecture on privacy and digital identity. Do you want everybody in the plane to have your facebook account? Our personal information is the product the big companies are selling to their advertisers, so they are not so interested in helping us protect that information.
  •
But is there a way to 100% protect our privacy because digital identity in the first place they aim to make us visible without us realizing that we are visible. So when we become visible how then can that be privacy. The story of emperors new clothes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Emperor%27s_New_Clothes) clearly relates to the whole issue of privacy and digital identity.

Very interesting aspect of how to protect our personal identify by using selective attributes like age, gender when appropriate and needed by various websites.

Essay on need for colleges to engage students on their digital identities @insidehighered - 0 views

This is a basic analysis as to why digital identity needs to be more integrated into higher education. Important here is the need for institutions to play catch up to train faculty and staff who are meant to teach students about DI, who are just as likely to commit egregious violations of social media ettiquette (Impression management and professional comportment).

SIPX: Digital Course Materials, the Way You Want - 3 views

  •
I really cannot recommend this resource highly enough. The brainchild and master's thesis of a lawyer-turned-information professional, SIPX is an incredible blend of copyright control centre, digital distribution hub, and online marketplace. With the impending downfall of Access Copyright and its rejection by most Canadian universities, schools have had to quickly learn about copyright and establish good practices and guidelines, but this product provides the safest legal protection while considerably upgrading the dissemination of course readings; it also makes strides that push against the dominance of the traditional textbook market. It has already been adopted by several major American universities, including Stanford (where it was developed; it seems all the greatest open knowledge stuff is coming out of there!) and Notre Dame. Did I mention that it even supports MOOCs? I just found out about this resource while doing a practicum placement for library school, and I can't believe that I'd never heard of it before. It's exactly the kind of integrated library and informational system that needs to happen in academic institutions, and while it's not explicitly modelled on open access, it relies on many of the same values that we've talked about throughout this course. Check it out!

Some Different Ideas about Digital Identity - 15 views

  •
Exploring Digital Identity: Beyond the Private Public Paradox. A great article that explores how new media is transforming culture and how we identify ourselves online. The article uses a metaphor called digiSelves to describe how we are also creating a new identity too.
  •
Indeed, maintaining the distance between the private self and public persona may be more difficult as we enter the virtual global village. As we continue to use the media, the proposition that we may become invested in the public persona possibly at odds with our private self seems to be a reasonable assertion. School shootings tend to support this.
  •
People have a digital identity to surf on the Internet and get access to different kinds of information. Yes, there are a lot of good resources online for people to know and to learn. However, during the process, people's privacy also takes the risk of being viewed by others. On the other hand, everyone also has a chance to see others' privacy. So, is it good or bad to have such a digital identity. I think it is good and people acquire much more benefits than the risk they take.
