A couple of years I was involved in a project whose results could be interesting for the module 2. The research tried to understand the new practices of young people (including training, networking, use of digital resources, etc.) related to the arts, publishing, digital production, among others. The research was carried out in Mexico City and Madrid with two interdisciplinary teams. The results can be found at: http://www.fundacion.telefonica.com/es/arte_cultura/publicaciones/detalle/164
While I couldn't understand much of the results (PDF in Spanish only?), the fact that "young entrepreneurs and interactive urban environments are opening new opportunities for informal training and employment," is inspiring!
I often worry about youth use social media mindlessly, as a distraction, but perhaps it has little to do with age and everything to do with intent!
Unfortunately, the text is available only in Spanish. The issue is relevant because it does not focus on the general practices of young people but in those associated with specific cultural fields (visual arts, publishing, etc.), what help us to understand the use of IT in particular niches by specific groups.
