Religious Discrimination - Workplace Fairness - 2 views

  •
Do you ever wonder when you are able to practice your religion? Have you ever been denied a job opportunity or given rude looks because you believed in something someone else did not? This website provides a lot of helpful information regarding religious discrimination and shows how our society views it currently.

Religion in itself is a touchy subject. Religion in the workplace is even more so. great article with very detailed aspects on major points of religion in the workplace.
  •
This article along with anything oriented around Religious Freedoms makes me fume. Workplace discrimination is a double bladed sword in my opinion. The employee has the right to practice religion in the workplace in many cases, but the owning entity is forced to forfeit their liberty to refuse based on their own beliefs. Duality and legality in its most primitive forms.
  •
I believe that we as individuals should be able to be open and free about ourselves. Religion is a HUGE part of some people's lives, to the point they live and breathe nothing but their religion. Totally not the same, but it's almost like breastfeeding in the workplace. Some people (such as myself) need to take breaks to pump,I am constantly being joked about, given rude looks, and mocked for something I chose to do as a mother, much like those who are ridiculed for being religious. We should all be able to do and be as we please.

Gender Bias in the workplace - 2 views

  •
This article tackles the gender bias topic in the workplace. They made the video to show the dramatic differences in the way men and women are viewed for the same characteristics or behaviors.
  •
It's really sad to see the difference in how men and women are treated in the work place. Women are viewed differently because of their gender and not by the job that they perform.
  •
Reading this shows how sad the equality is between men and women. It bases it off of gender instead of performance which is not right at all, especially with the women.

This is a topic not talked about often but I have witnessed some bullying from other coworkers multiple times. It's not something just seen on the playground, and it should have more attention drawn to it!
  •
It's wonderful that people are finally starting to speak up about this issue. It's always commonly talked about among the younger generation but bullying has no age nor gender. Thanks for the link!
  •
I love that people are starting to speak up about bullying and realize that something needs to be done. A lot of people talk about it and see it happening, but nothing is ever done.
  •
It brings such joy to see people to finally speak up about bullying when often times people are either scared to or nothing is every done to prevent such a horrible issue.
  •
Most people think of bullying in a school environment rather than a work environment, this is a topic that people do need to be aware of and how to help prevent it in their own work place.
  •
Not a lot of people think that bullying happens elsewhere rather than school. Bullying can happen even in church, camps, and even at home. I hope that one day we could put a stop to this.
  •
I am not sure what to think about this article. Am I the only one that thinks it is a little absurd? I say absurd because it seems people are increasingly sensitive. I do not condone bullying. However, an adult should not be bullied at work. I can not think of a profession that it would actually take place. One might say well that is part of the problem. No, just because somebody can't take a joke; are they going to report a coworker to a supervisor. Too many people are too sensitive.
  •
Bullying can happen anywhere and we may just not realize it. Most people don't realize when someones being bullied because it's all seen as a joke.

Discrimination Against the Mentally Ill in the Workplace - 1 views

  •
This article is about discrimination against mentally ill people in the workplace. It includes negative experiences of those who have mentioned their illness during interviews, and those who are already employed.

This is so true and sad. I have a friend who has bad PTSD and they treat it as a joke at his workplace. Mental illness is so prevalent and even now we are finding out so much about it and just how many people are affected by it.
  •
I do have a problem with this because I have Asperger Syndrome. I do hear of some getting fired just because of their disability. I would never want to get fired because of a disability. If they did that to me, I'm hiring a lawyer. I'm sure that I'd win the case because they would find it as discrimination.
  •
People with mental illnesses should not be treated differently, they did not ask to be born with an illness it just happens. Humans should be look for more ways to help people then discriminate them. It saddens me that mental illnesses seem to be frowned upon more then saying you have been to jail.
