Bullying exists everywhere! I like this article because it provides ways for an anti-bullying environment. At some point in time everyone has whiteness someone being bullied, has been bullied personally, or has been the bully. Its a tragic subject that can lead individuals to suicidal attempts and depression. How long will it take before people realize this matter is crucial especially in educational environments, social media, and even in politics.
  •
I just found out that my wife is pregnant a week ago and this is one of my greatest concerns as a soon to be parent. No one should have to go to school and be open to abuse. Great article and I appreciated the ways that it states to make safe environments.

Bullying.....we always hear the word bullying and this is one of the most scary situation in the world. Million of people have killed themselves because of bullying. we have to stop bullying.
  •
This is such a common topic and has been for so many years. Bullying has been around for so long and now that social media is extremely popular it seems to make it worse. We have to do all we can to prevent this due to so many students committing suicide because of such extreme bullying.
  •
As a parent of a bullying victim, I feel there is much that can be fixed when dealing with this issue. the only thing you can do as a parent is talk to the administration and after that, your hands are tied. They are the ones that talk to the student and the student's parent. The only notification you get is that they had a meeting. In the meantime, your child is being retaliated against, their self-esteem continues to deteriorate and their schoolwork suffers. I wish there could be a more proactive approach. There came a time that I didn't get any communication until I sent an email to the entire school staff, Principal, and Superintendent.
  •
Its definitely an issue that far too often is overlooked. I am not a parent, and can only imagine how parents feel when their son or daughter is a victim of bullying. The issue definitely needs to be addressed, no one should have to attend school worried or concerned about how their day is going to go. It is very saddening, and disheartening.
  •
I feel like bullying has become more and more of an issue over the years. It is sad to see what is going on and I would like to see more schools implement programs to stop it.
  •
Bullying as gotten bigger over the years especially dealing with how big social media is getting. I wish school and adults would help stop this issue because it is always overlooked.

This is a topic that I feel strongly about. I always felt sick to my stomach seeing any type of bullying while I was growing up going to school. I believe that the consequences to students who bully, need to harsher than they are.
  •
My wife is a kindergarten teacher and sees "bully" characteristics in her students at such a young age. It is an ongoing issue that I feel most schools disregard even though they have "anti-bullying" rules. It is a scary issue as it not only negatively affects students' academics and school attendance, but also their quality of life. There is also the issue of cyberbullying which allows the bullies to hide their identity and messages being sent via the Internet.
  •
I like that this article gives almost a list of what to look for and how to intervene. My wife teaches fifth grade at a public school and every time I walk down the halls I see some form of bullying but am unsure what to do. I usually say something to the kids, but then always wonder if I am overstepping my role because I'm not a teacher or the other student's parent. Also, I ask myself "could I get in trouble if I had to intervene?".
  •
Bullying has became a bigger issue than people realize it is, it is sad to see kids get hurt. I like how it gives a list and how to deal with the matter for the children.
  •
There are always anti-bullying rules, but how effective are they when students feel they can't come forward? I think there should be more focus on teaching students how to treat each other and that they should intervene if they see someone being harrassed.
  •
At the end of the day, bullying is going to keep going until there are more kids stopping it than surrounding the first whipping their phones out to record. Everyone knows deep down that being a bully isn't fun, but who is going to stop that bully? Who is going to make him feel like the dumb one for picking on someone younger than him? That is how you stop bullying.
  •
This site has a ton of information on bullying and how to deal with it. Preventing bullying is a top thing in our country and this site gives some good information on every aspect.

This is a topic not talked about often but I have witnessed some bullying from other coworkers multiple times. It's not something just seen on the playground, and it should have more attention drawn to it!
  •
It's wonderful that people are finally starting to speak up about this issue. It's always commonly talked about among the younger generation but bullying has no age nor gender. Thanks for the link!
  •
I love that people are starting to speak up about bullying and realize that something needs to be done. A lot of people talk about it and see it happening, but nothing is ever done.
  •
It brings such joy to see people to finally speak up about bullying when often times people are either scared to or nothing is every done to prevent such a horrible issue.
  •
Most people think of bullying in a school environment rather than a work environment, this is a topic that people do need to be aware of and how to help prevent it in their own work place.
  •
Not a lot of people think that bullying happens elsewhere rather than school. Bullying can happen even in church, camps, and even at home. I hope that one day we could put a stop to this.
  •
I am not sure what to think about this article. Am I the only one that thinks it is a little absurd? I say absurd because it seems people are increasingly sensitive. I do not condone bullying. However, an adult should not be bullied at work. I can not think of a profession that it would actually take place. One might say well that is part of the problem. No, just because somebody can't take a joke; are they going to report a coworker to a supervisor. Too many people are too sensitive.
  •
Bullying can happen anywhere and we may just not realize it. Most people don't realize when someones being bullied because it's all seen as a joke.

Many social media users experience cyber-bullying. It's sad to say that it's a common and fairly easy thing to do and there should be more movements to stop it, but when there's people like celebrities doing it, who have millions of followers, there isn't an initiative or example to follow that promotes the cessation of cyber-bullying.
  •
Cyber-bullying is definitely an issue that needs to be discussed. Many online platforms don't adequately deal with bullying. Bullying can also lead to suicide. An example of this I believe is the suicide trend seen on some social media sites where teenagers primarily spend their time on such as Tumblr.
  •
I was glad to see a topic on cyber bulling it is a huge issue due to the fact that we are always on electronic divides. I recently just watched a movie on the subject the other night on Netflix. In the movie the young girl told both her parents and the school that she was being harassed and the school did nothing to help. The young girl ended up committing suicide.
  •
I think that cyber bullying is certainly a big issue. A lot of people may not even know that they are cyber bullying. You can see all over the internet people making fun of other people, even if it seems harmless. Some people don't realize that this can affect someone tremendously. They don't think about what they are putting online before they post it.
  •
People are too afraid too confront others, so they go online and make fun of them instead. When we are behind our phones or computers we feel a lot more comfortable and don't think much about it. Cyber bullying is wrong and hurts others emotionally.
  •
I am also glad that this was an article posted. This is such a growing issue, and has been for sometime. It's extremely unfortunate that school are part of this, and when these children go home they can't find solace because of the internet and all the social apps created.

This articles gives descriptions of types of bullying, conclusions of bullying factors and risks. It also gives more facts about statistics of type of bullying, who has been or bullied someone, bullying effects suicide and talks about targeted groups of people.
  •
I'm often lost in thought regarding my young daughter, she is still a ways from attending elementary but it seems that with time the issue of bullying doesn't appear to get better. I hope by the time she is old enough to attend there are better practices in place for schools and students to recognize and stop this behavior.

Bullying by peers has effects later in life - 3 views

This kind of article should be spread around to help decrease and get rid of bullies. Many just think that it's only teasing but they don't know that can stay with you forever. This article shows that we do stay with lasting affects when bullied.
  •
Restorative Justice is fine when you have a student who is willing to put forth the change and in turn is a positive role-model for their peers. Sometimes, it's just a pat on the back and the student is left to deal with the challenges of being in a school where bullying is tolerated by their peers. Sometimes these pre-teens and teens have some serious mental issues that need to be addressed outside of school. It infuriates me that the innocent, kind and quiet kids, become targets for these kids. Bullying is a power play by some very manipulative children. I vote for serious consequences on bullies. Kick them out of school period! 1st offence, your counseled, 2nd offence there is the door!
  •
This article should be exposed to anyone who has been bullied or bullied anyone.
  •
It is so sad that someone else's actions can forever alter your mental state or even end your life.

Identifying Bullying as a Social Justice Issue - 3 views

  •
This article discusses Identity-Based Bullying and what it is. Identity-Based Bullying is a form of discrimination against others and should be stopped.

  •
Unfortunately, bullying is a common social justice issue and there are many different types of bullying and there are many ways students, parents and school administration can help prevent bullying of others.
  •
Bullying needs to be recognized in all levels. Most people think that bullying just happens at school with children on the playground but they should realize that it can happen to adults and in all types of environments.
  •
I wrote about child abuse. I think that this is a good topic because bullying is similar to abuse. There is a victim, and a perpetrator. I also believe bullying can stem from being abused or neglected at home.

The Relationship between Cyberbullying and School Bullying - 1 views

  •
The article studies the relationship between cyberbullying and school bullying. The results show that students who are bullied in cyberspace are at higher risk of being bullied at school as well. Additionally, students who are bullied in cyberspace or in both cyberspace and school are at high risk of low grades, poor concentration, and absenteeism. Bullying has a direct impact on learning whether it occurs in cyberspace or at school.
  •
Bullying does effect a student's ability to learn, whether it is cyber or not. It can lesson their focus in school and in their social life. Cyber bullying is worse because it can come in many forms. The internet is everywhere and anyone can use it against someone.
  •
I think it should be common sense that if someone is spending more time getting cyber bullied on top of getting in school bullied as well, If it was me I would not be doing my work. People just need to stop and think before they post.

This site really has it all when it comes to information on bullying and what we need to do to stop bullying, It is sad to read about this issue especially when you have kids that are in school. I preach to my daughter on daily basis that bullying is terrible and to make everybody feel and treat them how she would want to feel and be treated.
  •
This article is very informative on the outlook of bullying. From point A to point B of each child's situation is covered. I think that many parents and school staff would benefit from reading this article.

What are some interesting statistics about bullying? - 1 views

  •
Bullying can happen in the schools, but it also happens online. A child could be doing homework online ad actually be bullied by social media like Facebook. Bullying is not targeted to a single group of people. At any given time, anyone can be the subject of a bully. Most kids do not report it. It can happen at any age for any reason.
  •
I found this thread to be informative. It's sad that I am not surprised by how high the rates of bullying are. It is a truly horrible issue that won't be stopped until parents step in and teach their children how to treat others. I also feel that it's the responsibility of witnesses and school staff to report any bullying and make sure it is resolved, which seems to not happen very often.

Bullying is now against the Law - 1 views

  •
Many states are pushing for a law against bullying. There are a few states like New Jersey where they've made bullying illegal. This website provides a better understanding of bullying and its consequences.
  •
This website is informative on what bullying and a bullying law is, but I feel that it is almost a bit empty on other information as well. It doesn't say what types of bullying laws are in place, nor how strict they are in each state. It does, however, list resources at the bottom which may answer these questions.

I agree, till this day bullying still goes on its so sad. It really impacts the youth and cause depression!
  •
Bullying is still an issue and there isn't much that can be done to stop it in its entirety sadly. It can have serious negative effects for not only the person being bullied, but the bully themselves too as they will think it is ok if not told otherwise.
  •
Not enough people talk about the psychological impact that bullying can have on kids. These problems do not always just go way, and they can carry on into adulthood if nothing is done about it.
