Personal Learning Networks (PLNs) are all about using web tools such as blogs, wiki, twitter, facebook to create connects with others which extend our learning, increases our reflection while enabling us to learn together as part of a global community. PLNs increase our opportunities to ask questions and receive help compared to our normal daily face-to-face interactions.

Best of a PLN is it's personal! You make all the choices: What tools you use! Who you connect with! How you want to learn! When you want to learn!

What is a “rich task”? A rich task involves both process and product, following an inquiry-based model of learning. Students learn large amounts of new content, develop important skills and develop in interdisciplinary learning. This includes personal-management, interpersonal development, communication, ICT and particularly in thinking. Usually a “rich task” might be classified as a term’s worth of learning under the guise of “integrated studies”, but a rich task could be equally as applicable in literacy and mathematics programs (or indeed any other area of learning). Here are some key areas that I think people need to consider when aiming to plan rich tasks: 

Creative Web Tools For and By Kids is a project designed for students, ages 9 to 14, to use emerging technologies for engaging, thinking, learning, collaborating, creating, and innovating. The focus is on the use of free, open-source, or minimal cost tools, so the project can be replicated.  An underlying goal is to demonstrate how advanced technological applications for enhancing learning can be implemented with only a computer and Internet access.
