"Whether it is teaching Primary School pupils the basic skeleton or asking secondary school pupils to the inner workings of a vital organ human anatomy is a key component to the school curriculum. it was an area of science I always enjoyed when I was at school. However there were some classmates who were not so keen especially when our science teacher brought in lamb hearts for dissection.
With this flashback in mind I started to think of how can human biology be made more appealing to all, not only the squeamish. Below are three of my favourite human anatomy apps out there."
"The Japanese Science and Technology Center offers nine outstanding science lessons. The list of lessons and activities covers topics in physics, biology, psychology, geography, and space science. The general format of each virtual lesson is to present a manageable chunk of information followed by activities in which students try to use that information. I hesitate to generalize the activities as games because not all of them are games and those that are games are not "drill" games. Each lesson has multiple parts (some have 20+ parts) and multiple activities."
"A leading private school, with some of the best results in England, is publishing digital textbooks which are available to download free online.
The Stephen Perse Foundation in Cambridge is publishing 12 multimedia textbooks for IGCSE biology.
They are being made available on Apple's iBooks online store to use on iPad tablet computers."
"Code.org is a non-profit foundation dedicated to growing computer programming education. Founded by two brothers, Hadi Partovi and Ali Partovi, their vision is that every student in every school has the opportunity to learn how to code. Code.org want computer science and computer programming to be part of the core curriculum in education, alongside other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) courses, such as biology, physics, chemistry and algebra."
"Powers of Minus Ten: Bone is a neat iPad app for biology students. The app takes students through ten levels of viewing the inside of human bones. Students can zoom through and explore each of the microscopic levels. "

"The iPad has found its way into hospitals, retail stores and homes across the nation, but it's also making a big splash in the classroom, even with some of the best online colleges. With a great selection of apps focused on everything from word processing to keeping in touch with classmates, the tablet computer can be an invaluable tool for learning - no matter your age. Online science students haven't been left out, of course, and there are a wide range of applications offering help with chemistry, biology, astronomy and even the math that comes along with certain fields. If you're a college student looking to supplement your science studies, these apps are some of the best for learning, sharing, researching and just plain having fun."
"The possibilities for the use of timeline tools in the class are endless. Whether you want to teach salient historical incidents, chronological order of events, or explain a developmental process in biology or simply outline the major learning curves for the year, timeline creation tools are the ideal platforms to implement."
