Not that I am a proponent of calculations and estimations. I am a proponent of actual measurement ie. saliva. But this article does lay out some good basic, historical figures about testosterone and SHBG.

Review of data analyzing salivary cortisol finds saliva is a great medium, with sensitivity and specificity exceeding 90%, for evaluating the stress response.  So, where is the Louisiana State Board of Medicine, BCBS, and other insurance companies on this.  They are in favor of inferior testing and treatments ie.  hysterectomies for pelvic pain (50% success rate).   The great item here is this is not one study but an analysis of multiple studies. This is contrast to "opinions" that often govern the above mentioned organizations/businesses.

New study shows that obese boys/young men pre and post puberty have up to 50% lower testosterone levels than comparative normal BMI counterparts.  Also of note, estradiol levels were not associated with the low testosterone levels.

Tamoxifen and more importantly, flaxseed increases endogenous IL-1Ra that is a known inhibitor of the pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1alpha and IL-1beta. These pro-inflammatory cytokines are associated with breast cancer.  Conclusion: diet modification can effect inflammatory cytokines associated with breast cancer.  This should be explored as true preventative therapies for women. This study also found a positive association with estradiol and IL-1Beta in breast tissue and SC fat; inversely associated with IL-Ra in the breast.

Estrogen Receptor Beta shown to inhibit growth and spread of breast cancer cells.  So, ER-beta should be evaluated to not only prevent/slow the growth of breast cancer, but to prevent the spread of breast cancer.  This study proposes that the loss of ER-beta is a seminal event in the development of breast cancer.
