KCC Japan Education Exchange is offering travel grants for research in Japan up to $2000 each. Application materials will be available at the KCC Japan Education Exchange website by the next week. Please check at: www.kccjee.org The travel grant must be used for travel to, from, and within Japan. It may not be used to buy equipment, purchase books or materials, or any other direct research expenses. It may not be used for language instruction. There are no restrictions on the discipline or content of the research project. This travel grant may be combined with any other fellowships or grants.

The purpose of this APS is to solicit innovative concept papers from international and local organizations that can propose the best approach for blind and deaf inclusive education in Mali. This will be done through a two steps application process consisting of: (a) the submission of an initial concept paper and then, (b) the submission of a full application, as detailed in Section II. This APS will be open for a period of one year, with up to three (03) rounds, depending on funds availability. Under this APS, USAID intends to award multiple grants and cooperative agreements ranging from $20,000 to $300,000 for a maximum period of performance of two years each. At time of releasing this APS, the total amount available for funding the grants/cooperative agreements is $882,000 over a period of two years, of which $400,000 is available to cover the year 1. There will be a pre-application meeting with all interested local organizations on the date specified above to review the application requirements. All interested organizations are required to send an email at least seven working days before the meeting with the name of the organization and names of the attendees and their contact information. The solicitation will be amended to provide answers to all questions raised (in writing and at the meeting) for the general consideration of all interested parties.

Each year, approximately ten ensembles are selected to conduct regional cultural exchange tours of approximately a month in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Central and South America, and the Middle East. As part of the program activities, selected ensembles will perform high-profile public concerts, engage in intensive collaborations with local musicians, lead jam sessions, appear in the media, and offer educational activities such as workshops, music business training for aspiring musicians, and motivational and education programs for underserved youth.

Advancing Basic Education in the Philippines (ABEP) project seeks to improve basic life skills for children in the early grades in the Philippines (early childhood Education through Grade 3). This includes the ability to do math, read and write in Filipino, English and selected mother tongues, as appropriate.

The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi is pleased to announce an open competition for an implementing partner for the Promoting Gender Equality in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Exchange Program (1) to facilitate a clear understanding of key barriers to female participation in TVET and analyze their implications in women's employment and economic empowerment; (2) to provide practical tools and guidance on how to mainstream gender effectively into the TVET institutional structures, systems, programs and activities; and (3) to strengthen the capacity of TVET providers to overcome gender disparity in student recruitment and retention. U.S. non-profit/non-governmental organizations, public and private Educational institutions, including TVET providers, may submit proposals to manage a year-long project to support the professional development of the staff of select Georgian TVET institutions through a robust professional study tour at U.S. training centers, with site visits to the relevant TVET institutions, partners, and policymakers in the United States. PAS intends to award a cooperative agreement for an estimated amount of $225,000 to defray the costs for the preliminary needs assessment trip to Georgia, followed by a three-week intensive study tour in the United States for up to 12 participants, and follow-up visit in Georgia for evaluation and further consultations.

Higher Education Partnerships- Morocco is designed to accelerate institutional capacity development through partnerships and innovation between higher Education institutions (HEIs) in the United States (U.S.) and partner countries that have a USAID presence. Specifically, to support the creation of a new and comprehensive undergraduate degree in teaching (Licence en science de l'enseignement) within Moroccan universities.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is focused on providing the essential and highest quality environmental information vital to our Nation's safety, prosperity and resilience. Toward this goal, the agency conducts and supports weather and climate research, oceanic and atmospheric observations, modeling, information management, assessments, interdisciplinary decision-support research, outreach, education, and partnership development. Climate variability and change present society with significant economic, health, safety, and security challenges and opportunities. In meeting these challenges, and as part of NOAA's climate portfolio within the Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR), the Climate Program Office (CPO) advances scientific understanding, monitoring, and prediction of climate and its impacts, to enable effective decisions. Within this context, CPO manages competitive research programs through which NOAA funds high-priority climate science, assessments, decision support research, outreach, education, and capacity-building activities designed to advance our understanding of the Earth's climate system, and to foster the application and use of this knowledge to improve the resilience of our Nation and its partners. CPO supports research that is conducted across the United States and internationally. CPO's climate research portfolio is designed to achieve a fully integrated research and applications program. We meet this objective through a focus on climate intelligence and climate resilience, in support of NOAA's goals.

Since 1980, the United States-Japan Foundation has supported projects that have involved more than five thousand pre-college teachers in the U.S. and Japan in mutual study and learning on topics related to the U.S.-Japan relationship, including in-depth study of the culture, society, and history of both countries. Through these teachers, as well as through a variety of curriculum materials, Web-based collaborative activities, and partnerships between U.S. and Japanese schools, tens of thousands of young people in both countries have begun to study and understand their mutual connections and the importance of the friendship and partnership that binds the two nations so closely. Through its Pre-College Education Program, USJF supports activities that take advantage of new technology to bring Japanese and American teachers and students together; build human networks among teachers on both sides of the Pacific with a mutual interest in teaching and learning about Japan, the U.S., and U.S.-Japan relations, particularly in the fields of social studies and Japanese-language instruction; and/or invest in regions that have been underserved in terms of exposure to and resources for learning about the other country. The foundation also supports programs that enlist experts at institutions of higher learning and other NGOs in support of U.S.-Japan studies programs at the elementary, middle, and high school levels in both countries; present the products of research and policy studies and media programs on U.S.-Japan issues to an audience of pre-college students and their teachers; and enhance, expand, and preserve the study of the Japanese language at the pre-college level in the United States through teacher professional development opportunities, national standards, and performance assessments.

The purpose of the Equitable Access to Education in Southern Senegal Cooperative Agreement (CA) is to ensure the maximum number or children (aged approximately 9-16) in the Casamance (Ziguinchor, Sedhiou, and Kolda) and Kedougou regions of Senegal have equitable access to relevant basic Education opportunities that develop essential life skills

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi (PAS New Delhi) seeks proposals for a project entitled "Gender Equity: Women's Equality, Empowerment and Leadership through Safe Higher Educational and Work Spaces." Through this grant project, the grantee will establish partnerships with five Indian universities/ colleges to organize five gender sensitization training workshops for 125 faculty of Higher Educational Institutions (HEI's) and conduct gender and safety audits at these institutions. Each workshop would be led by an eminent American feminist scholar or activist in addition to Indian experts. The workshops should predominantly be in Tier II Indian cities including one in North India and one each in the American Consulate districts (Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad). As part of the workshop, the grantee will organize and implement a creative exhibition/installation/performance showcasing narratives on safe and gender-just work places and campuses. The field study is designed to focus on the themes of global competence, education (both practice and issues of international, national, and state policy), and economics. The trip will provide fellows with structured opportunities to observe high-quality instruction and to interact with educators, students, administrators, and policy makers. Fellows also will have opportunities to investigate the historical and cultural significance of the destination country and engage in a service-learning project with a local community organization. Previous field study destinations have included China, Brazil, and Peru. The anticipated field study destination for the 2018 Global Learning Fellowship is South Africa.

Objectives: To promote higher education opportunities in the United States by engaging with U.S. university alumni residing in the east and northeast India region, promoting educationUSA programming, and encouraging Indian students to apply to colleges and universities in the U.S. The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Consulate General in Kolkata (PAS Kolkata) seeks proposals for a project entitled "U.S. Universities Alumni: The East and Northeast India Connect Program." In this project, the grantee will work with the United States-India educational Foundation (USIEF), educationUSA and PAS Kolkata to identify U.S. university alumni residing in the east and northeast India region (Kolkata Consular District) and create a database of the established alumni. The grantee will also, in collaboration with educationUSA, create a year-long plan that includes organizing workshops and interactive sessions between the U.S. university alumni and potential U.S. university applicants and their parents at the American Center in Kolkata and at select venues of partnering institutions in cities that generate strong potential student populations, such as Patna, Guwahati, Siliguri, Jamshedpur, Shillong, and Ranchi. The United States Government, represented by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the Mission in Malawi, is publishing this Request for Information (RFI) in order to provide US and Malawi-based academia, industry, and other stakeholders the opportunity to review, comment, suggest, and input into the development of two potential USAID/Malawi activities that will involve partnerships between US and Malawian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The two potential activities will focus on: 1) expanding degree opportunities in Malawi; and 2) strengthening Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) in Higher Education.

The Cultural Programs Division within the Office of Citizen Exchanges, in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) announces an open competition, pending the availability of funds, for four projects under the FY13 Creative Arts Exchange (CAE). CAE initiatives are arts-based international people-to-people exchanges that support and further U.S. Department of State foreign policy objectives. Programs are implemented in close coordination with U.S. Embassies and Consulates abroad. Eligible themes and/or artistic genres for CAE initiatives are determined annually based on ECA strategic priorities. Under the FY2013 CAE Open Competition, ECA will accept project proposals under the following themes: Economic Statecraft and the Arts, Arts in Collaboration, Community Engagement through the Arts, and Professional Development in the Arts. The goals of the Creative Arts Exchange are to promote mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries; provide unique opportunities for artistic collaboration, engagement and/or performance between American artists and international participants; convey the diversity and high artistic merit of the arts in America as well as increasing awareness and understanding of American art, culture, values and society for international participants and audiences; foster opportunities for Educational outreach and community engagement with diverse and underserved communities, especially youth, women, and persons with disabilities; engage participants in instructive and informative experiences in their art form; and create opportunities for sustaining relationships and collaboration between U.S. and international artists and institutions that endure beyond program duration.

The Office of Citizen Exchanges, Youth Programs Division, of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs announces an open competition for the Pan-Africa Youth Leadership Program. Public and private non-profit organizations meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 USC 501(c)(3) may submit proposals to provide secondary school students and adult educators the opportunity to explore the primary themes of civic rights and responsibilities, leadership development, respect for diversity, and community engagement through three-week French and English language exchanges in the United States. Support for individual or small group follow-on projects in the home communities of the exchange alumni will complete the program. A total of 110-130 participants will travel to the United States in up to six separate, mixed-country delegations from sub-regions of Sub- Saharan Africa in calendar year 2014. ECA funding will support the planning and implementation of U.S.-based programming, including homestays with American families, and participant international travel.

U.S. Consulate General Chiang Mai announces the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for a new program whose goal is to provide high school educational opportunities for underprivileged Thai girls who would otherwise be unable to attend. The program will provide $45,000 to fund a minimum of 30 girls through two years of upper secondary school (preference will be given to groups who can demonstrate the ability to stretch funds to help more girls without sacrificing the quality of their education, for example by matching funds).

With generous support from the Cleveland Zoological Society, the Asia Seed Grants Program provides funds to support field conservation and research projects in Asia. Annual awards ranging from $1000 to $3500 will be made to conservation and research initiatives involving wildlife and their habitats, and educational or cultural activities that involve or impact wildlife and their habitats. Ideal projects have clear and direct conservation impact, positively affect local people and create opportunities for capacity building in country. The Education Committee solicits proposals for funding visits of toxicologists to developing nations to expand awareness of toxicology and promote toxicology careers through interaction of toxicologists with undergraduate and graduate students. Up to $1250 funding is available per request. Malawi faces chronic shortages, skill mix imbalances, and uneven geographical distribution of professionally qualified health workers such as medical doctors, clinical officers, nurse midwives, and allied health professionals. The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to provide technical assistance (TA) to the Government of Malawi in support of the national HIV response through the secondment of technical assistance (Technical assistants recruited and posted to requesting institutions to continue support to the HIV program (TA positions for Care and Treatment, Logistics and Supply Chain, Monitoring and Evaluation)) to the Ministry of Health (MOH) and other organizations, implementation of a fellowship program to develop technical and leadership capacity for HIV program management, provision of technical assistance to regulatory bodies (Medical Council of Malawi, Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi and Pharmacy Medicines and Poisons Board), and improvement of the quality of in-service and pre-service education for critical health worker cadres in collaboration with Ministry of Health and training institutions under the University of Malawi and the Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM).
