    The Max-Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity, Department of Religious Diversity in Göttingen is offering The Ph.D. fellowships are for 3-4 years. The dissertation will be defended at Utrecht University. The postdoctoral fellowships are for one or two years. CAE initiatives are arts-based international people-to-people exchanges that support and further U.S. Department of State foreign policy objectives. Programs are implemented in close coordination with U.S. Embassies and Consulates abroad. Eligible themes and/or artistic genres for CAE initiatives are determined annually based on ECA strategic priorities. Under the FY2013 CAE Open Competition, ECA will accept project proposals under the following themes: Economic Statecraft and the Arts, Arts in Collaboration, Community Engagement through the Arts, and Professional Development in the Arts. The goals of the Creative Arts Exchange are to promote mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries; provide unique opportunities for artistic collaboration, engagement and/or performance between American artists and international participants; convey the diversity and high artistic merit of the arts in America as well as increasing awareness and understanding of American art, culture, values and society for international participants and audiences; foster opportunities for educational outreach and community engagement with diverse and underserved communities, especially youth, women, and persons with disabilities; engage participants in instructive and informative experiences in their art form; and create opportunities for sustaining relationships and collaboration between U.S. and international artists and institutions that endure beyond program duration.

    The Office of Global Educational Programs of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, U.S. Department of State, is pleased to announce an open competition for proposals to advance the Bureau's objectives of mutual understanding between the people of the United States and those of other countries, specifically through greater U.S. student mobility, through the administration of the FY 2015 Capacity-Building Program for U.S. Undergraduate Study Abroad. This competition is a component of the Department's engagement on expanding and diversifying U.S. study abroad through its new U.S. study abroad unit. Under this cooperative agreement, the selected recipient will provide administrative support services, monitoring, evaluation, and programmatic advising and support to sub-recipients for the execution of ECA's FY 2015 Capacity-Building Program for U.S. Undergraduate Study Abroad. In close consultation with ECA, the recipient will run a nationwide competition to provide awards averaging approximately $50,000 to between 17 to 20 accredited U.S. higher education institutions (HEIs) to create or expand their U.S. study abroad programs under outlined diversity goals. None of the funding may be used for student scholarships. The recipient will monitor the fiscal and programmatic progress of sub-recipients and their projects with regular reporting of results to ECA. The Capacity-Building Program for U.S. Undergraduate Study Abroad should be designed to create or expand the capacity of U.S. HEIs to administer study abroad programs under diversity goals, whether broadening the student population who studies abroad and/or the destinations in which they study. It is also intended to allow U.S. institutions to collaborate with and help expand the capacity of overseas HEIs to provide academic programs for U.S. undergraduate students.

These projects should advance Education for Democracy and Hhelp remove obstacles to integration in education. Small grants competition will support projects designed explicitly as home-stay exchange programs to contribute to democracy and human rights education with interaction and the development of tolerance between the ethnically, religiously and geographically diverse communities of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition to the core exchange program activities, the mandatory requirement is a component of family engagement in which participants will stay in the homes of fellow participants from different ethnic or religious backgrounds, and engage in volunteer projects in both communities. Priority will be given to innovative programs that bring together youth (ages 12-24) from communities across ethnic, geographical, and administrative lines and engage large number of youth in community improvement activity in each host town. Detailed budget should be expressed in USD, with a maximum amount of $20,000.

Applicants should plan to recruit and select between 24 and 34 youth and adult participants total in Indonesia and in the United States. The new program with Burma is a one-way exchange; applicants should plan to provide U.S.-based programming for 16-20 youth and adult participants from Burma. The activities for each program will focus on civic education, leadership, diversity, and community engagement and prepare participants to conduct projects at home that serve a community need. Pending the availability of funds, it is the Bureau's intent to award two cooperative agreements: (1) $275,000 for Indonesia, and (2) $110,000 for Burma, each for one base year plus two option years for an estimated total amount of $1,155,000.
