The Course Hero-Woodrow Wilson Fellowship for Excellence in Teaching will support rising stars in the academy who love teaching, demonstrate excellence as educators, and are making their mark as exceptional researchers, poised to shape their fields. Designed for young scholars working towards tenure, the Course Hero-WW Fellowship is a "genius grant" that will emphasize the balance between scholarly excellence and commitment to teaching practice that draws on new approaches to pedagogy, creating a new level of engagement for students in and beyond the classroom. In short, Fellows will be emerging heroes in their fields, on a clear trajectory to become great college educators. In its inaugural year, the Course Hero-WW Fellowship will identify five outstanding junior faculty members. Fellows will receive a one-year grant of $40,000-approximately $30,000 to support the engagement of a student assistant and the balance to be used for research and travel support. Exceptional candidates teach in ways that build student confidence and mastery of a subject; encourage critical thinking; explore foundational concepts through the lens of broader themes and global events; promote the power of learning communities beyond the classroom; leverage technology to complement the classroom experience; consider and serve different learning styles; prepare students for lifelong learning; and can serve as replicable teaching models for other educators. Selection takes place in June 2018. The five Fellows will be invited to attend the Course Hero Education Summit in July 2018, where their Fellowships will be announced.

The project will promote the development of English language, classroom pedagogy, community engagement and leadership skills of the participants through first-hand experience and networking with English language teaching peers in the United States. Through teamwork activities, the program will develop participants' classroom, leadership, communication skills, and teacher trainer skills. In addition to enhancing the participants' ability to implement effective English language programs in Pakistan, the exchange program will provide participants a better understanding of the United States, its people, and its democratic values. By the end of the English Language Teaching Exchanges, approximately 50 Pakistani English language teachers from government or foundation schools from undeserved areas will further develop their pedagogic expertise in teaching English language, improve their own English language proficiency, and increase their knowledge about the United States.

By participating in the Global Learning Fellowship program, educators have an opportunity to lead the profession by acquiring the skills needed to integrate global competence into their daily classroom instruction, advance pedagogy in their school/district, prepare students to thrive in a "flattened" global age, and contribute to the closing of the global achievement gap.

The U.S. Embassy in Belmopan, Belize announces a notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) to strengthen citizen security by focusing on job creation and providing alternative activities and better education for youth at higher risk of gang affiliation and/or engaging in criminal activity. Contingent upon the availability of funds and quality of proposals, U.S. Embassy Belmopan intends to issue three to five awards in an amount not to exceed $900,000 in total funding. Each award will be for an amount between $100,000 and $400,000. Project periods should not exceed two years, and the anticipated start date for successful proposals is September 30, 2015. This funding will support U.S. Government objectives under the Central America Regional Security Initiative (CARSI) to target the underlying factors contributing to violence and crime in Belize. Project proposals should address at least one of the following project objectives: 1) Providing job creation opportunities for youth and marginalized communities as an alternative to crime and violence; 2) Providing youth and marginalized communities with productive alternative activities that increase education and leadership opportunities; 3) Improving the educational quality or curriculum for high school youth in Belize, especially those in underserved communities. The Office of Global Educational Programs of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, U.S. Department of State, is pleased to announce an open competition for proposals to advance the Bureau's objectives of mutual understanding between the people of the United States and those of other countries, specifically through greater U.S. student mobility, through the administration of the FY 2015 Capacity-Building Program for U.S. Undergraduate Study Abroad. This competition is a component of the Department's engagement on expanding and diversifying U.S. study abroad through its new U.S. study abroad unit. Under this cooperative agreement, the selected recipient will provide administrative support services, monitoring, evaluation, and programmatic advising and support to sub-recipients for the execution of ECA's FY 2015 Capacity-Building Program for U.S. Undergraduate Study Abroad. In close consultation with ECA, the recipient will run a nationwide competition to provide awards averaging approximately $50,000 to between 17 to 20 accredited U.S. higher education institutions (HEIs) to create or expand their U.S. study abroad programs under outlined diversity goals. None of the funding may be used for student scholarships. The recipient will monitor the fiscal and programmatic progress of sub-recipients and their projects with regular reporting of results to ECA. The Capacity-Building Program for U.S. Undergraduate Study Abroad should be designed to create or expand the capacity of U.S. HEIs to administer study abroad programs under diversity goals, whether broadening the student population who studies abroad and/or the destinations in which they study. It is also intended to allow U.S. institutions to collaborate with and help expand the capacity of overseas HEIs to provide academic programs for U.S. undergraduate students.

On behalf of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and in partnership with the Indonesian Ministry of Research Technology and Higher Education (Kemristekdikti), IIE announces a pre-solicitation for the USAID Sustainable Higher Education Research Alliances (USAID SHERA) program to increase research capacity in Indonesia through U.S. - Indonesia partnerships. This program will foster long-term research alliances between top-tier Indonesian higher education institutions, affiliate Indonesian higher education institutions, U.S. higher education institutions, private sector partners, and other stakeholders on critical topics of local and global significance.  USAID SHERA seeks to fund approximately five Centers for Collaborative Research (CCRs) on specific topics at top-tier Indonesian institutions in partnership with at least one U.S. higher education institution partner and at least three Indonesian higher education institution partners. The anticipated amount of funding per CCR is US$3 million over four years with the lead Indonesian institution as the primary sub-recipient of the funding. The USAID SHERA team is currently accepting Expressions of Interest (EOIs) through the USAID SHERA website through September 15, 2016. USAID SHERA will review completed EOIs to confirm candidates' eligibility and establish target applicants for the full Request for Applications, to be released by the end of September 2016. Interested U.S. higher education intuitions should contact potential Indonesian applicants directly to discuss participating as a partnership member.

Mercator-IPC Fellows work at Istanbul Policy Center (IPC), an independent policy research institute with global outreach located in the center of Istanbul. IPC's mission is to foster academic research and its application to policy making. The Center is firmly committed to providing decision makers, opinion leaders, academics and the general public with innovative and objective analyses of key domestic and foreign policy issues. IPC offers the Mercator-IPC Fellows access to a broad network of academics, civil society activists and decision makers as well as a unique platform for sound academic research to shape hands-on policy work. Mercator-IPC Fellowships are available to outstanding academics and professionals who work in one of three thematic areas: | EU/German-Turkish relations | Climate change | Education In the 2014/15 round, at least six Mercator-IPC Fellowships are available for outstanding young academics and professionals who have significant prior work experience. The fellows will be expected to work on academic or practical projects at IPC. A Master's degree (or equivalent) is required for this position, but a PhD degree is strongly preferred. Projects which focus on the German-Turkish nexus are likewise preferred.  The 2014/15 fellowships begin September 1, 2014 and the deadline for applications is April 1, 2014.

Indiana University's African Studies Program invites applications for a short-term residency to conduct research in IU's Libraries/African Studies Collections. Indiana University's African Studies Collection ranks among the top tier of such collections in the U.S. It comprises more than 150,000 volumes of monographs and over 700 serial subscriptions as well as materials in other formats (e.g. posters, slides, film/video, audio tapes, etc). The focus of the collection is on the humanities and social sciences, supporting a wide range of students and faculty in such departments as history, anthropology, fine arts, theatre & drama, literature, folklore, ethnomusicology, communication and culture, linguistics, religious studies, education, political science, business, economics, journalism, and applied health science. This residency is intended for faculty members at Historically Black Colleges and Universities, or at other U.S. colleges / universities with limited Africa collections, to conduct research in Indiana University's libraries and special collections in support of curriculum development or publications. The successful applicant will receive an award that covers domestic travel, accommodations in Bloomington, and a modest per diem for up to two weeks of research. The award will cover expenses up to a maximum of $2,000 and must be used before August 01, 2014. The recipient is expected to reside in Bloomington during the period of her/his award.

The United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) announces an open competition for the support of projects through the Obama - Singh 21st Century Knowledge Initiative (OSI). Announced by the US and Indian governments, OSI aims to strengthen collaboration and build partnerships between American and Indian institutions of higher education. Accredited US post-secondary educational institutions meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 U.S.C. 501c(3) may submit proposals to support the program's goals of encouraging mutual understanding, facilitating educational reform, fostering economic development, and engaging civil society through academic cooperation with Indian post-secondary educational institutions.   Exchange activities may include but are not limited to curriculum design, research collaboration, team teaching, focused series of exchanges, seminars, among other activities. Activities should be designed to develop expertise, advance scholarship and teaching, and promote long-term ties between partner institutions.   Proposals in the following fields are eligible: Energy, Climate Change & Environmental Studies; Education & Educational Reform; Public Health; and Sustainable Development & Community Development.

NSF and selected foreign counterpart science and technology agencies sponsor international research institutes for U.S. graduate students in seven East Asia and Pacific locations at times set by the counterpart agencies between June and August each year. The Summer Institutes (EAPSI) operate similarly and the research visits to a particular location take place at the same time. Although applicants apply individually to participate in a Summer Institute, awardees become part of the cohort for each location. Applicants must propose a location, host scientist, and research project that is appropriate for the host site and duration of the international visit. An EAPSI award provides U.S. graduate students in science, engineering, and education: 1) first-hand research experiences in Australia, China, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, or Taiwan; 2) an introduction to the science, science policy, and scientific infrastructure of the respective location; and 3) an orientation to the society, culture, and language. It is expected that EAPSI awards will help students initiate professional relationships to enable future collaboration with foreign counterparts. The NSF award includes participation in the Pre-Departure Orientation, summer stipend of $5,000, and roundtrip airplane ticket to the host location. EAPSI partner agencies pay in-country living expenses during the Summer Institutes.

The purpose of the Education Recovery Support Activity (ERSA) is to increase equitable access to learning opportunities for out-of-school children and youth in the affected conflict regions of Northern Mali, especially in the region of Gao.

Partners of the Americas (Partners), the U.S. Department of State (DOS) and NAFSA: Association of International Educators are pleased to announce a new grant competition as part of President Barack Obama's 100,000 Strong in the Americas Initiative (100K Strong Americas). The 100K Strong Americas initiative is the Administration's signature education initiative in the Western Hemisphere designed to foster region-wide prosperity through greater international exchange of students.   This grant competition will use the principle of leveraged innovation with HEIs that demonstrate the greatest commitment and innovation toward increasing study abroad between the United States and countries in the Western Hemisphere.  In applying for RFP#3 grants, HEIs will be asked to demonstrate how they will assert leadership to implement the innovations proposed, address on-campus barriers to academic mobility and how they will to commit to making concrete changes to expand access to study abroad.

Higher Education Partnerships- Morocco is designed to accelerate institutional capacity development through partnerships and innovation between higher education institutions (HEIs) in the United States (U.S.) and partner countries that have a USAID presence. Specifically, to support the creation of a new and comprehensive undergraduate degree in teaching (Licence en science de l'enseignement) within Moroccan universities.

This project seeks to provide Afghan women with an American-style, liberal arts, English language-based undergraduate education in Afghanistan, the Middle East, Central Asia, the Indian sub-continent, or the East Asia-Pacific region. This educational opportunity will enable Afghan scholars to actively participate in the Afghan workforce and serve as positive agents of change upon completion of their studies.

The purpose of this grant is to continue to provide G.R. E.A.T. Instructor Certifications to Central American Officers plus overall management and coordination of the Program, including scheduling of trainers and training; regular review, revision, and updating of curricula and training processes; publication and production of materials and resources needed for training and for instructors in the field; maintenance and enhancement of a dual-language G.R.E.A.T. Web site; continued development of program curricula and materials to improve accessibility for Central American audiences; and monitoring and evaluation of Program implementation to ensure fidelity to the Program design and effective delivery of services.

The United States Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, acting through the Office of Public Affairs, is pleased to announce a Notice of funding opportunities for two types of Civic Education programs that address school segregation or other problems that divide students along ethnic lines. These projects should advance Education for Democracy and Hhelp remove obstacles to integration in education. Small grants competition will support projects designed explicitly as home-stay exchange programs to contribute to democracy and human rights education with interaction and the development of tolerance between the ethnically, religiously and geographically diverse communities of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition to the core exchange program activities, the mandatory requirement is a component of family engagement in which participants will stay in the homes of fellow participants from different ethnic or religious backgrounds, and engage in volunteer projects in both communities. Priority will be given to innovative programs that bring together youth (ages 12-24) from communities across ethnic, geographical, and administrative lines and engage large number of youth in community improvement activity in each host town. Detailed budget should be expressed in USD, with a maximum amount of $20,000.
