People-to-People Connections through Music Arts Programs - 0 views

    The U.S. Embassy Islamabad Public Affairs Section (PAS) announces an Open Source RFP and invites organizations to submit a proposal supporting people-to-people ties between the people of the United States and Pakistan, specifically in the area of music. These activities should expand people-to-people relationships between non-officials (e.g. musicians, industry professionals) and increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of Pakistan through projects that build self-sustaining relationships between the U.S. and Pakistani musicians and music industries. Program Goals: 1. Strengthen People-to-People Ties between the U.S. and Pakistan: Increase mutual understanding through projects that share American music with Pakistani audiences. 2. Create Institutional Linkages Between the U.S. and Pakistani Music Industries: Encourage the local music industry to build long-term, self-sustaining relationships between U.S. and Pakistani musicians, music institutions, existing festivals and music schools. 3. Support Music/Creative Industry Growth: Provide Pakistani musicians with opportunities to network and discuss challenges facing Pakistan's music industry, engage in substantive dialogue with American music industry professionals, and increase cooperation on problems of mutual concern, such as intellectual property rights. 4. Strengthen Regional Cooperation between Afghanistan, Pakistan and India: Increase mutual understanding on a regional level by including Indian and Afghan musicians in music capacity-building projects. 5. Expand Music Outreach to Youth and Underserved Audiences: Though music programs, develop local partners that are able to access regions of Pakistan not easily accessed by U.S. officials and make American music available to the local youth audience.

    The Sparkplug Foundation primarily provides grants to start-up nonprofit organizations or new projects of established nonprofits that are addressing the fields of music, education, and community organizing. In the Music category, the Foundation supports emerging professional musicians or music-development programs. In Education and Teaching, the Foundation funds projects that deal with "the whole student" and with learning as a community activity. Through Community Organizing, the Foundation encourages activist strategies for addressing institutional injustices and for building a just society. The current focus is on ground-level community organizing at the intersection of utilities and energy infrastructure, housing and community resources, and racial justice. The Foundation also provides limited support for projects in Israel that involve Palestinian communities.     The French-American Jazz Exchange, a partnership of the Cultural Service of the French Embassy, the French American Cultural Exchange, and the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, seeks to foster the creative and professional development of jazz artists from France and the United States through the collaborative investigation of artistic practice and exposure to new audiences, musical concepts, and professional relationships. FAJE supports projects jointly conceived by French and American professional jazz artists that encourage artistic exploration, foster intercultural dialogue, and contribute to the dynamism of the art form. Each FAJE project consists of a lead partner from one country working with a collaborating partner from the other country. Lead and collaborating partners may be either individual artists or ensembles. Projects may take place either in France or the U.S. and their respective territories within a sixteen-month period (September 1, 2014, to December 31, 2015).

    The U.S. Embassy's Public Affairs Section in Moscow (PAS Moscow) invites proposal submissions for a cooperative agreement to provide technical and logistical support for arts and cultural programming in Russia. The grant recipient will work closely with Public Affairs and Cultural Affairs at Mission Russia to identify and select American artists and performers to bring to Russia for short-term programs. Performances may include, but are not limited to music, dance, theater and film/television acting, and culinary arts. The grant may occasionally include programs for artists in the spheres of photography, comic books and graphic arts, computer art and design, arts management, painting, and other visual and graphic art. Individual athletes or groups of athletes may also be supported through this program to demonstrate their talent. The grantee will be responsible for assisting with support in the form of fee negotiation with the artists, visa assistance, in-country and international transportation arrangements, airport pickup, event promotion, procurement of educational and printed materials, and other technical and logistical support as directed by PAS Moscow. Additional examples of supporting activities include reimbursing artists for program-related expenditures and processing vendor payments for travel expenses, support, or other items.

    The U.S. Embassy in Ljubljana, Slovenia announces this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for Slovenian cultural institutions and civil society organizations. The Embassy continues to offer grants for well-designed and managed projects that encourage and promote cultural and artistic cooperation, collaboration and exchange between the United States and Slovenia. The focus of successful projects should be the presentation and promotion of American values, culture, and/or history through art, music, literature, dance, and/or other cultural mediums, to Slovenian audiences. Projects which demonstrate cultural cooperation between Slovenia and the United States that is indicative of the strong transatlantic relationship between the two nations and their people are of particular interest. Typically grant awards range from $3,000 to $5,000 and supplement other funding, though some exceptional projects may qualify for up to $10,000. The deadline for submitting proposals is March 15, 2019. New grantees may be given priority over previous grantees. Funding for cultural grants is decided through a competitive application process, and each proposal is reviewed by an internal embassy committee.
