"Form@re diventa un Open Journal Avvertiamo i gentili lettori che con il nuovo anno l'Open Journal Form@re termina le proprie pubblicazioni con le Edizioni Erickson e continuerà a uscire per la FUP - Firenze University Press, l'editore dell'Università degli Studi di Firenze. La rivista si propone di continuare il percorso già intrapreso dodici anni fa con le Edizioni Erickson in un contesto universitario, nell'ottica di una ulteriore integrazione con gli orientamenti internazionali che caratterizzano ormai la cultura degli Open Educational Journal. «Hole in the Wall» interessante esperimento di quella che viene definita educazione minimamente invasiva. Esiste anche un libro "Il buco nel muro- come i bambini imparano usando liberamente il computer" dello stesso Mitra ed.Effatà.

Grande, e mi commuove, perché il Buco nel Muro indiano era fra i temi di discussione del primo corso online che ho seguito, nel 2003, "Development and the Internet" del Berkman Center for Internet and Society di Harvard - una specie di proto-MOOC i cui contenuti sono tuttora online: http://h2o.law.harvard.edu/ViewProject.do?projectID=64 . In alternativa chi vuole può cimentarsi con un servizio web, ad esempio BlogLines. "Livemocha is a social network service that supports language learning through audio-visual lessons and peer tutoring tools. Launched in September 2007, the platform has over 5 million registered members from over 200 countries. Lessons are provided for 36 different languages. "At my place of employment Diigo is blocked through our server under the social network category. I have administrator rights and can override the block for a set time period, eg 30 minutes. Diigo opens and I am able to surf from my bookmarks satisfactorily. However, there is no way I can add new bookmarks to my Diigo account, using a "Post To Diigo" bookmark in Internet Explorer, or the "Add+" button at the top of "My Items" in "my library" view. Somewhere, somehow our server is preventing this to happen. Needless to say I am disappointed. The work around is to email my new urls to my home address and then ad them to Diigo once I return home."

"How Can I Organize My RSS Feeds So They're More Manageable?"  I subscribe to a lot of newsfeeds, which makes me feel like I'm on top of everything on the internet-except now I'm feeling overwhelmed with all the folders and hundreds of feeds and constant flood of posts in my newsreader. I still want access to all the news and information, but what can I do to better organize it so I stay sane?

"Cos'è Google2SRT? Google2SRT è uno strumento in grado di scaricare i sottotitoli "non integrati" (Closed Captions - CC) dei video di YouTube/Google Video (se presenti) e convertirli in un formato standard (SubRip - SRT) supportato dalla maggior parte dei player. I sottitoli "non integrati" di YouTube/Google Video (i cosiddetti CC) anche oggi non possono essere scaricati in modo semplice. Anche scaricandoli, questi non saranno usabili in nessun player video (software o DivX domestico) poiché sono codificato in un formato proprietario di Google. Ecco perché Google2SRT permette di scaricarli e convertirli in un formato riconosciuto dalla maggior parte dei player video (SRT) e possono essere successivamente convertiti in altri formati conosciuti come SSA (SubStation Alpha) or SUB (MicroDVD) usando altro software disponibile su Internet. (...) A quali condizioni posso usare questo software? Google2SRT è un software gratuito ed open source, rilasciato sotto i termini della GNU General Public License (GPL). In breve: puoi scaricare, copiare, modificare, dare e vendere questo software come vuoi ed a chi vuoi, a patto che tu distribuisca il codice sorgente originale ed, in caso di modifica o riuso del codice stesso, anche il nuovo codice sorgente sotto le medesime condizioni."

Particolare vantaggio: consente di scaricare anche i sottotitoli automatici prodotti dal software di YouTube. Anche se fanno schifo, ciononostante a volte sono abbastanza poco schifosi da poter essere corretti per farne qualcosa di atto al consumo umano.

Interestingly, none of the phishing sites were hosted on WordPress.com, a a large blog-hosting service run by Automattic. The founder of Automattic was one of the original authors of WordPress and the company still contributes to the WordPress.org open source project. Netcraft speculates that this familiarity explains their security record. It also shows that WordPress can be administered securely. But the WordPress application is free and is installed on many web sites across the world. The administrators of these sites are responsible for keeping WordPress and its component parts updated, and many do not. "
