More ads to come to the popular social media websites. New ways of supplying them and the need for more revenue will cause an increase in the ads that we see on social sites. Some ads we may not notice due to the 'organic' layout of them.

Timing is everything -- and mobile advertising is no different | GamesBeat | Games | by... - 1 views

  •
timing when and where your ad shows up in mobile can be the most important part of the ad.
  •
This is a dense article but for that reason, all the more important to read carefully. This part surprised me in a good way: "By waiting until the user has finished their activity, closing an app, or is switching to another task and then showing a relevant, media-rich full screen, a Postitial ad to say "thank you and this session was sponsored by brand X" has proven to be around five times more engaging than traditional interstitial advertising."

This is an interesting new tactic for advertisers. I don't know how I'd feel if ads decided to pop up places I didn't expect them, but it's a unique way to get people to pay attention.

Programmatic Is Eating the (Advertising) World | Re/code - 0 views

  •
Skip to the ninth paragraph and you'll still get the gist. This one's about programmatic advertising. Which is helpful because that's all mobile ads are.
  •
Ninth paragraph indeed: I actually clipped this quote before I noticed you had said that: "Actually, the opposite is true. Programmatic is expanding because it allows advertisers to pay more for ads, and to be happy about the fact that they're doing it. We are in the midst of a multiyear transition in which it feels like ads are cheaper, but ultimately the cost of advertising is going up."

It increases efficiency and effectiveness. I can tell you feels really good when you get big result numbers back on a campaign.

Yahoo! Motion Ads Deliver Impactful Creative Opportunities | 360i Digital Agency Blog - 0 views

  •
motion ads from yahoo show promise in allowing banners to have more interaction with online platforms beyond just being a banner at the top, or side, or bottom, running on loop without really invading the space.
  •
I forget what these are called, but that style of photo: one smooth animation element - it was going around design blogs a couple of years ago. I see this as culturally inspired / evolved from the rising popularity of animated GIFs over the past couple of years.

Do social media ads really work? We put them to the test! - 0 views

  •
I hate facebook ads. There are about 5 completely random ones on a page, but then their is that one of something you googled about 10 minutes ago or even last week. It's pretty creepy, but I also hate to admit that it works. A bike keeps popping up on my facebook ads side bar, and I really may break down and buy it if I see it again.

This article talks about social media and how they've started adding a geolocation feature. It presents some scary features due to that. The user is essentially alerting anyone who reads that tweet where they are, or if they're not at home making it easier for robberies or other crimes.

Article is about the news reader app Circa and its plan to implement advertising into its platform. The company plans to introduce full screen banners as well as sponsored posts.

Native ads - basically like magazine advertorials - are becoming big business but I hope there is attention to quality and entertainment. Traditional advertorials have always sucked IMO.

Facebook Will Needs Permission From WhatsAppers To Use Data - 1 views

  •
This is a very big deal - most times when apps get bought out, their privacy policies are largely dismissed or completely changed. Due to the massive popularity and international use of WhatsApp, this is not a possibility. So the question is, if there will be no ads or information selling, how will Facebook make a profit with this aquisition? How can we as interactives sell this product?

  •
Yeah, Facebook is notoriously uninterested in people's privacy, but they seem to be in a bit of a bind here. Of course Zuckerberg has always said "the revenue funds the product, not he other way around" - in direct contrast to basically every company ever.
