Apple Bringing New Full-Screen Video iAds to Mobile Apps - 0 views

  •
Discusses initial details of Apples plans to introduce in-app video ads. Where currently a user has to click a banner within an app in order to view the advertiser's video, the article reports that now videos will play automatically within an app. Sounds annoying as hell.

Facebook Buries Posts From Brands - 0 views

  •
Core of the article: "Facebook has changed its algorithms over the last couple of years to highlight more posts by individuals and bury posts from brands - unless, of course, a brand wants to pay for ads to promote its posts."
  •
This is a topic I want to make sure to cover today. Both this specific issue on Facebook and the broader shift of the major social platforms towards native advertising and other marketing partnerships.

These fast trains would potentailly change the way we advertise. It could be anything from speacilzed ads based on where the train currently is, items available on the train, to ads for the destination of where the train is going

Tracking Your Online Activity Across Devices - 1 views

  •
I know, I know. This is old - in internet time - but didn't know this existed. Interesting how information collected on different devices can be used interchangeably.
  •
What is most interesting to me about this is the potential for storytelling - think of it like a play where the first act is inside a mobile banner, the second act is in a web banner and the third act is served via Netflix video ad.

Facebook Adds Nearby Friends - 0 views

  •
Hmmm, yeah, this seems like it will create way more problems than solve. Definitely more creepy than helpful.
  •
I don't know - I think they have the right idea here. It will definitely require finely honed features to let people toggle visible / invisible easily and to customize groups of people for different days / times / situations. And probably a lot of features I'm not thinking of. But I think the general concept is on point.

Trends Shaping Asia's Ad Industry - 0 views

  •
Okay, okay this is a video -- not an article. But I like it. Shows the difference between the Asian market and that of the West. HALF the world's social and mobile use is in Asia, so that part of the world is kinda of important to pay attention to.

How Advertising Manipulates Your Choices and Spending Habits (and What to Do About It) - 0 views

  •
I had to read past the opinion of this article. (Writer doesn't seem to like advertising much) But I was able to find many truths in it. It talks about the way we now receive ads. Many times without even noticing it. It's on our favorite tv shows, movies, etc. It's also wonderful events that are put on for the community, and then sponsered by "so and so" company. This article does pinpoint just how advertising is everywhere and how it's being shown.
