These ideas can be used in ANY course, on OR offline. Some great activities in here for icebreakers and a variety of other things!

I want to create a "videogame arcade" kind of area where my students and go and relax while still being presented with the language. This is great because I can adapt different games to go with different modules.

Video on Fair Use (A Fair(y) Use Tale - 3 views

This short movie clarifies the concepts of copyright and fair use. Professor Eric Faden of Bucknell University and some law students use Disney clips to explain the basics of copyright protection. I will use this video in my section on fair use of multimedia resources from the Internet.

I added the free version of RealTime through clicking on site link on one of the videos and the videos play successfully. Although Mozilla FF is not on the list of supported browsers, I was able to get MozFF to recognize the Real Time plug-in after I installed it on my hard drive.

Perhaps there are activities that can be adapted to online course environment? Click on "Go to Material", above, scroll down and click on "Database development" and select "by grade level" or "by content"
  • INTIME provides online video vignettes of PreK-12 teachers from various grades and subjects showing how they integrate technology into their classrooms using numerous teaching strategies. INTIME is the result of a PT3 program (Preparing Tomorrow?s Teachers to Use Technology). INTIME resources are useful for (1) teacher educators creating case studies; (2) pre-service teachers learning about effective pedagogical techniques; (3) in-service teachers searching for ideas and independent professional development; (4) professional developers seeking resources to demonstrate good teaching and technology integration, and (5) administrators developing teacher quality initiatives and mentoring programs.

I am considering whether to add the entire resource or just a few videos with a "for more of this ..." to my module on 21st Century Learning. What really excites me about this resource is the implications for case studies in methods courses in the B-6 program ... can even be shared with Secondary Ed and TESOL. You may want to share this with your grade level, Building Leadership Team, or your PD person. A GREAT free resource for meaningful, asynchronous tech integration training.

The Metaconstitutional Manifesto: A Bourgeois Vision of the Classless Society - 3 views

  • ccording to the author, "In the following pages I am going to argue that, mixed in with all the nonsense in his ideas, Marx did get two things right: First: To achieve an ideal society we must indeed move beyond capitalism. (Historical experience since Marx wrote, and a principled, systematic analysis of his ideas, however, indicate that the direction in which he proposed to move away from capitalism was profoundly incorrect.) Second: An ideal society will indeed be a classless one. (However it will not be achieved by liquidating the bourgeoisie by a revolutionary process, as Marx thought. Instead, it will be reached by elevating the proletariat into the bourgeoisie by a process of reform.)"

Nearly all animals begin their lives as babies. Birds as well as many species of reptiles, amphibians, and fish emerge from eggs. These animals are called hatchlings. Most invertebrates, including insects and mollusks, also emerge from eggs. These creatures are called either larvae or nymphs, depending on the species. For my class creation

Plagiarism - 2 views

Love that this is a simple explanation of plagiarism for students to understand.
    • Danielle Melia

I am going to use this as a recommended site to explore in the module for learning how to create citations.
  • Students know that putting their name on a paper written by someone else is plagiarism, but they are less clear about when to give credit to others for ideas included in their papers. This site attempts to clarify what actions are considered plagiarism and provide techniques for avoiding them.
    • Danielle Melia

      This is so important

This is good advice for people that are not sure they are actually plagiarizing someone's work.

In text citations and referencing were a major challenge for many of my students last semester. This interactive tool explains the basics of APA. I would have my students go through this activity to help them improve their use of references and citations improving the quality of their posts.
