This article is about a study that was done with children and there parents. It tested the correlation between the chidren's BMI and the parents BMI. They looked at the children's lifestyle behavior and practices compared to the children weight status.

In "Using A Financial Education Curriculum For Teens" the authors explore the implementation of a financial literacy curriculum in schools. The program called "Money Talks: Should I be Listening?" is an appealing way to help educate teenagers in financial literacy. This article also has extensive research from a company called Jump$tart that proves the effectiveness of the program and financial literacy curriculum.

This is a study that tested the mental health literacy of internet users. They measured different levels of depression through these test. They learned that if they intervene with these mental health disorders earlier, than they are easily fixed/switched by different means.

This article discussed if social support is correlated with older adults health literacy. They also studied to see if the adults health was directly effected because of there health literacy.

This article talks about how nutrition and the food items that are contained in the product are listed on the side of the product. This article is very interesting because it talks about how many labels over exaggerate exactly how health the product is. "fat free", or "low carb" foods are actually not healthy to eat. It discusses how looks can be deceiving when eating/buying certain products.

This article discusses a study that was done to show the correlation between health literacy and social communication. It is based off of older adults who usually have more health problems. It was showed in this study that also the older adults tend to have more chronic illnesses, they have very low health literacy

This article discusses how younger adults, and students health behaviors can be effected by the media they watch. About 84 students were tested in this and also covered other subjects like its effect on eating disorders, behavior, and violence.

Palmer discusses the positive impact that her mother's financial advise made on her life. In addition the article also references a study that suggests that Parents that teach their kids about the positive impact that money management can have on their lives can help them made better informed decisions as adults. Many parents lack the knowledge of financial literacy themselves and therefore their children grow up knowing very little about the importance financial literacy. The lack of financial literacy knowledge among the youth has caused unease and has inspired new programs designed to help parents teach their children.

The author addresses the importance of opening up the lines of communication between parents and their children. Children learn by example and it is important to help children understand the importance of why decisions are made in a household as well as differentiate the difference between want and need. If parents act responsibly with money, their children can learn from their actions. The article encourages parents to teach their children that money is a resource, a gift but not an end to a means. It drives home the fact the money alone does not buy happiness. Cross encourages stewardship and that realization that money is a way to share the benefits of life with people who have less.

Green shares the story of Roy Kobert and John Ninfo a bankruptcy attorney and bankruptcy judge who both volunteer their time teaching kids the importance of financial literacy. With the economy plummeting out of control both men have decided to be advocates for teaching financial literacy to children and young adults. Both men have seen the devastating effect that financial literacy ignorance has caused on the economy and individuals. They fear that if creditors can lure the youth into debt, our countries youth future is in jeopardy. Their goal is to stop the madness before it starts through education intervention. The article also talks about several different programs promoting financial literacy that have been implemented in different states across the country.

Colletti discusses the coordinated approach to financial literacy for girls that was started by the National Coalition of Girls' Schools in the U.S. The article stresses the importance for woman and girls to have sound financial literacy for success. Children have an understanding of finance and fairness even at a very young age. Therefore, young children are capable of learning about financial literacy at a very early age. The article also shares results of a financial skills study of teenage girls. Financial literacy education is a tool to help bridge the gap that woman have experienced throughout the ages.

The article focuses on the hard work of some financial institutions to help improve financial education in the U.S. These include money skills, and interative curriculum created by the American Financial Services Association Education Foundation, the Credit Union National Association, together with the National Endowment for Financial Education, and Visa, with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

The is article discusses what some think would be a better model for reading than presented in the No Child Left Behind Act. This new model combines three former reading models (cognitive model, stage model, and the Pracek Model) to help teachers with developing readers. This model is supposedly superior despite its complexity because of its broad reach and practical purposes. This article does not really define what it wrong with the No Child Left Behind Act, but instead presents a model that might be more beneficial to children learning how to read.

Morland's research was conducted over a 6 month span in 2003. Telephone surveys were used to call random telephone numbers in the phonebook in the states of North Carolina and Mississippi. These telephone surveys asked the recipients for their address, gender, height and body weight. The height and body weight was used to calculate for obesity. This study is especially useful to my research because it analyzes the addresses of the survey recipients and compares them to the concentration of fast food restaurants in that area. The important information I could use is that the more concentrated the fast food restaurants were, the more obesity was found within that area.

This describes using meditation practices and postmodern practices as a tool to promote a sense of collaboration and mutual responsibility for learning. It outlines a method through which the students and the instructor aims to become equal partners, and move from inexpert listeners to expert colleagues.
