What I love about this resource is the menu on the right with links to 12 different types of design - business cards, posters, even short stories - and visual examples. The examples are so helpful and really bring out how alignment can help in all categories.

A truly useful document that will be beneficial in the process of writing my Formal report. It is a packet created by Western Ontario University. It breaks down the different sections that comprise a formal report. It also describes how to approach the formal report and what it is. I found it to be extremely useful. 

This very descriptive document gives students all of the details necessary succeed in writing a formal document that meets the needs of the audience and purpose of the writer.

6 page PDF file A report is a fact-based piece of writing which sets out a problem and the possible solutions to that problem, in a highly organized way. Some reports are short and informal and cover topics like accidents, incidents that happened in a plant, an inspection visit or a small project that has been completed.

I think this is an interesting page because it actually tells us what people hate to see on video resumes. This is important to know what to avoid when creating the video resume.

A short article that provides some basic tips about how to write a formal report.

This is the best site that I found for formal reports, it gives you a great how to and explains everything about the formal report in great detail. This site could really help you write a good formal report.

This is a great how to guide for video resume. It discusses equipment needed, what to consider before you shoot, creativity, time, legalities, production, editing, when to avoid the video resume, and editing.

Very good website! A lot of information about how to create a video resume. What I liked about this is that it even provided information about the equipment that is needed to make one! It also covered the legal aspect of video resumes which the other two sites that I found did not. You have to have a consent form for every person that is in your video and this is good to know. It also states when it is important to avoid using a video resume.

The anatomy of typeface has many different areas to it that include alignment, type, mood, size, weight and style, and how text is described when put on a line. All these things were covered in the chapter 10 and 11 reading for the week. 

This page is a study on the relationship between new social media (internet) and old (traditional press). It is interesting to see the comparison of the statistics. It clearly shows why new social media has revolutionized the social media world. Blogs, Twitter, etc change top stories every day. Traditional press can have the same story for weeks. Politics on blogs is prominent however the latest technology is the top ranked subject on new social media sites of course.

I like this article because it gives you examples on how to use repetition in graphic design. The examples are listed using bullet points which makes it easy to read. 

This website offers some suggestions of the types of elements that can be repeated. Heading and subheading styles, for example, can be varied bu using different colors, stronger fonts, or larger font sizes. A consistent overall color scheme can also help unify a page; this site suggests selecting a few key colors and then applying that throughout the project. Quote I liked: "Repetitive elements create a sense of organization. The effect is the same as using a consistent unit of measurement - it helps interpret the meaning of the object under consideration, and it helps to identify all elements as part of the same site." (Or page/project).

The fifth paragraph of this review was particularly helpful in understanding Manovich's five differences between old and new media.

This fact sheet on resolving conflict is a great example of ch. 5.  Points out how and when it tends to arise. It also includes the 5 most dominant styles people use to deal with conflict. If you feel as if you are at a dead end with your group member(s) there is a conflict worksheet to take you step by step through fixing your issue.

This site shows the different roles used in team writing. It goes into depth about managing times and creating schedules.

Great slideshow on how plagiarism will only hurt you in the long run. Take your education upon yourself. If you are expected to be able to refer back to something in the future that you cheated on it will be obvious. If caught in school it will go down on your record, end your school career, and could even cause a degree you have to be revoked. Get in the habit of quoting and citing sources.
