DD#11HW#3Remediation - The MIT Press - 0 views

This is an except to a book that supports the ideas of the text we had to read. I thought this was useful because it brought to my attention the other side of the story, I hadn't realized that maybe we need to branch off of older media in order to produce newer, and more amazing things. However, I just don't see that happening to easily because there is no foundation for it to be built off of at the moment.

DD#10HW#6Video Resumes: If You Must Create One, Don't Be Dave | Pongo Blog - 0 views

This page was a contrast to help understand the argument that was being discussed between the two methods. It helped in determining what makes video resumes un-credible in their approach of being professional.

DD#10HW#5The Advantages of a Formal Report | eHow.com - 0 views

  •
I came across this page and it helped clear up a lot for me. I didn't know what a formal report was and how it would apply to what we were doing in this class. This page has helped clear the uncertainty that surrounded a formal report. It breaks down everything that a formal report can bring to the table and then goes into in depth reasons why they are beneficial. Which is a great resource for those trying to figure out what the purpose of a formal report is.

how to write a formal report - 0 views

  •
A truly useful document that will be beneficial in the process of writing my Formal report. It is a packet created by Western Ontario University. It breaks down the different sections that comprise a formal report. It also describes how to approach the formal report and what it is. I found it to be extremely useful.

This video made me think about Transcoding and the use of HTML in new media. This is a tutorial on how to use HTML in the creation of a web page. It gives a lot of really good information about how to make a computer do what you want it do. This is what I think about when it comes to computer language.

This page contains a lot of the very in depth and complicated world of copy right laws. There is so much information that I couldn't really seem to find the end of it. However, some interesting information that  I found was the copyright basics with is a pdf form that breaks down the background of copy right laws. Which is quite in depth.

DD#7HW#1Print - The 75 Books Every Man Should Read - Esquire - 0 views

The page is a great illustration of the western flow of reading. There is not much that distracts the reader from the information being given out. The covers of the books guide the viewer to continue downward despite there being any actual guiding line of any sort. Each book is accompanied by a short caption that distinguishes the title of the book from a brief quote or description of the book. All this information is in a easily written font. This whole page is an un-ranked list and it just flows downward allowing the reader to follow the books downward.

7 Ways to Improve Your Blog in 2010 - 1 views

  •
The last way this suggested on improving my blog made me laugh. I am not getting paid for this so I guess I am doing it for the right reasons. I didn't even know people blogged for money, I just thought of it more as a Public Service announcement kind of system. Where people could vent their ideas and opinions in a structured environment where they could receive feedback on such ideas. This page helped a bit due to the simplicity of it, being crunched for time within the last week I took the very brief descriptions and began to try to incorporate these facts into my blog to see if any imporvement would come about.

Here is another list to help me spark my ideas on how to create a more proficient blog. Some of the options on this list are a bit ridiculous for this class and I couldn't really see myself doing them like hiring other writers. While others like ridding myself of unproductive widgets sounds like such a great way to make space and reduce clutter.I like this one a lot just due to all the suggestions it imposes.

This photo shows the repetition of color and how i draws attention to the hair of all the women in the crowd. The technique used in this form of repetition was the technique of visually and conceptually related images. The visual aspect is the red hair and fair skin of the women within the photo. The conceptual aspect is all the same hair and skin type people gathering together creates a sense of repetition.

D#5 HW#1 The Power of Alignment | Webitect - 1 views

  •
This page is more of a resource than an example of aligntment. The examples that Kayla(the author) shows looks like good examples however the resolution they were posted in makes it blurry and hard to judge. Kayla however breaks down in a few brief paragraphs how effective and important alignment is within an article, or project. One aspect that she hits on that makes a lot of sense to me is the images in alignment and how they can also be placed into alignment even though it is a photo. There is a lot more that goes into alignment that first expected.

I chose to do this page on balance because it wasn't mainly focused on text. It had a main focus on videos. The balance on the page lies in the way the videos are formatted which causes a visual path in which the user is directed to them. This page is not too formal so the symmetric alignment of is not the biggest contribution to the balance. I believe what really makes it is the layout of the page is the way that the different search options are left justified and guides the readers eyes to the videos below. Also the genres on the right take up the additional white space on the page allowing for a fuller looking page.

This webpage demonstrates balance in order to create a visually pleasing aesthetic for the reader. The information that talks about the article is centered aligned. If one were to remove the ads and links to other articles it would send this page out of balance. However, the links and ads add a symmetric balance to the page, which gives a more educational and formal feel to the article.

Gorgeous Typography Examples in Advertising Design - Noupe - 0 views

  •
In this ad, the concept is very simple yet the message behind it is truly deep. This I believe is due to the contrast of the white and red as well as the emphasis of the color white.  The flow of this ad really comes through in the type of font that it was created in. The script makes it flow with the reader as they read the word efficiency

A Tale of Two Advertisements « Virtual Scrapbook of The Highland Park Neighbo... - 0 views

This page is similar to the textbook, which makes it a perfect example of how contrast works. It takes two examples of advertisements and allows readers to compare the two, to determine which leaves a lasting effect on the reader. Both advertisements are from the same people or corporation. It is apparent the first advertisement uses contrast more effectively and personally leaves a better lasting impression on me.

Gamestop is one of my favorite examples of emphasis the amount on this website is ridiculous. Whether it be on their slideshow that contains photos with type in all different sorts of fonts and colors. Or just the clean white layout that seems to make the titles of the games just pop off the page.

For my project I am still not sure what I want to do yet, however I do know that if a list of materials is needed I will list it first.
    • Franz Ferguson

These three tips are very important I can see that they will be important in the future, thinking through my instructions are going to vital because if I don't take control of what to list and in what order then the instructions will be difficult to understand.
  • ...3 more annotations...
  • Use active, clear language
  • Test the instructions

How to Write Instructions (with pictures) - wikiHow - 0 views

Who knew writing instructions for instructions would be so technical. This page is one that has made it pretty simple however it doesn't provide many examples.
    • Franz Ferguson

This is a new step, but I believe it makes a lot of sense to include it. I don't know why other authors havent thought about it.

This brief outline of whats to come is actually pretty helpful.
    • Franz Ferguson

Like the author said that I got this from, thisis a very interactive way to learn how to right instructions, and its not super dry and boring.
    • Franz Ferguson

By giving examples of the right and wrong way on how to make instructions, I personally found it easier to understand what I was trying to accomplish because of it.
  • ...1 more annotation...
    • Franz Ferguson

Again another quality example of the right way to do things and the wrong way which is how I learn best. If I can compare something the wrong was to the right way then I find I create less errors.
  •
In the following list, click to put a tick beside the statement if you think it's important when writing instructions - leave it blank if you don't (you can click again in the box to change your mind). This is the form of the verb which tells you to do something.

I feel like this course is a great way to get a leg up on the competition. Mr Leoff states that most smaller organizations have well little familiarity with graphics. I feel as though in just this first chapter I have learned quite a bit about maybe the basics of graphics but over the course I will have adequate knowledge about the subject.
