Welcome Jim here's a great payware site (also has freeware): http://www.rrmods.com/. You can also look here for some great freeware: http://www.sporbust.com/, and some more payware here: http://www.worldoftrainz.com/. Those should get you started. As for routes, well, I recommend Gilby & Wallace, Port Ogden & Northern (both on the Download station) You will need a decent computer to run those. And check here for more great routes: http://www.checkrail.com/ and here: http://www.trainzproroutes.org/index.html. Anyways, others may have other recommendations for you, but that should get you started. Hope that helps, enjoy your Trainz experience!

Yes Trainzmap works with 2009.Step by step Tutorial.[1] Start up notepad and put some text in the open page, say 'TS2009 dummy file' [ Text not really needed ] and then save file to 2009 Trainz directory as TRS2006.exe. [eg; C:\Program Files\Auran\TS2009\TRS2006.exe - Make sure you save the file with a .exe extension and NOT a .txt extension][2] Open TrainzMap
You could also use the BI Lumber Unload Dock, Kuid 128094:27003, by Rdelinsky.
Jkerlee has the Lumber Warehouse, kuid 35815:26206.
Tafweb has two versions of Factory_8_Gengoods, one with snow (1942:27029) and one without (1942:27019). These accept lumber and produce general goods. I use them myself.
These are all TRS04 assets, so make sure the filter is set to find them.
If you do a search for the subject Lumber you'll find several other toys you may find useful.

What I did (TS2009, but I think it will work for TS2006) is in CMP, create a back-up of the asset you want to remove. Then delete the asset from the database. This will only work for assets not built in, as you cannot delete built-in.
Once the asset is deleted in CMP, go back into TS, and use the "Delete missing assets" function.
I do not think that just disabling the asset in CMP will do anything. Disabling only makes the asset no longer available in the Surveyor menu, but does not remove it from the route.
For Trainz AI control of shunting moves it's no so much the signalling as the use of Trackmarks and Driver commands such as "Drive to Trackmark" and "Couple at Trackmark" that you need to look at. You may also need to use invisible signals to help the AI.
Narrow Gauge 2ft request Anyone?
hi
would there be a request of a new 2ft Gauge locomotive,
for example
foreign Narrow gauge
WW1 locomoties
welsh narrow gauge
just doing a catchup in the last few weeks
after not being able to upload for sometime. Recently I have uploaded a lot of oz stuff including new station buildings yard buildings of varying types and bridges. I have also been uploading locos and rollingstock, some of these are Vline grain hoppers and a refrigerated 4 wheel wagon, NSW 30 and 79 class locos as well as private and govt. 4 wheel coal hoppers.
OK, Here are the steps that I was able to take to save a custom displacement map from the displacement map window.
1. Open the Advanced section of the Topology panel.
2. Use the Select Area tool to choose an area of terrain on the route.
3. Click on the Get Displacement button. A greyscale image of your terrain should appear in the window.
4. Now click the tiny Save Displacement checkmark in the upper right of the new image.
5. Fill in the name and description for your new displacement map.
You can repeat the process as much as you like. All the maps you create are real TS2009 assets and will show up in CM2 ready for you to upload to the DLS.
the correct way to signal your setup there would be to 04 absolute signals guarding the singe track entries at CP22 and CP10 and 05s anywhere in between. 08 or 06s would guard entry into the sidings. thats proto, and should work just fine. but like i said, the 08s share the properties of 04s and 06s in that they are absolute signals so its should still work.
I use track, Quad track, or 105' wide road spline, as a tool to make terrain, hills and mountains, by laying the spline points at varied heights, and then hit the smooth spline tool button. I later on adjust the terrain up and down, so it is not jagged, rough, or pitted
