Men with Metabolic Syndrome have lower Total Testosterone values.  Symptoms correlated with age: older men associated with increased symptoms.  This study only found lot T at 6.5%.  The authors in this study have come up with a new box--andropenia.  I don't know what the heck that is and how that helps clients.  If symptoms are present and if levels are on the decline, then symptomatic hypogonadism is present.  I know the logic seems simple, but it appears hard to follow in the science.  I don't see this any different then type II diabetes.  At 126 you have diabetes, but at 125, we don't know what to do with you but see us next year and you will have diabetes and we will know what to do because you are in the box of diabetes.

ADT therapy with abiraterone inhibits androgen production from both testicular and adrenal origins.  This study finds that a decrease in androgen production through ADT did not always equal a decrease in PSA, indicating other mechanisms of prostate cancer profession.

Testosterone, like all other hormones, appears to have a "U" shape therapeutic curve in women.  This cohort study found increased atherosclerosis, as determined by IMT and usb, in women with low serum Total Testosterone.

SHBG positively associated with lower CVD risk profile, CRP, blood pressure, TC, triglycerides..., in young men.  This was found independent of Testosterone.  This is similar to a lot of the research on Metabolic Syndrome as well.

In a study of Jordanian men, low Diabetes is clearly associated with low Testosterone.  The study found a 24.3% incidence based on lab testing and a 19.8% incidence based on symptoms.

This study follows others: Diabetes associated with low Total Testosterone.  The question is whether this is a cause and effect or merely an association? This study also found age, income, BMI, and diabetic neuropathy as risk for low Testosterone.

Generation X more obese than baby boomers.  There was no difference in physical activity levels.  This points only to environment i.e. diet, environmental toxins...

environmental toxins that have estrogenic activity, i.e. BPA alter the prostate stem cells.  These and other xenoestrogens, as they are collectively called, increase the sensitivity of the prostate to estrogen.  This increases the risk of prostate Ca.  This just sets the pattern of signal interpretation and sensitivity.  Add in the continued estrogenic environment, add in the excess weight, the increased aromatase activity and resultant estrogen production and one has all the ingredients for prostate cancer.

The point of this study post is not the focus on the sex change, but that estrogen dosing in men is associated with increased CVD. This is known from the other literature.

Good review of the data on Testosterone, libido, Testosterone therapy in women, and safety of Testosterone therapy in women.

Why has this study not received major press?  Study finds that 10+ year users of statin therapies have an 83% increased risk of invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast, a 97% increase in invasive lobular carcinoma of the breast.  In women with elevated cholesterol, the data gets worse.  There is a 204% increased risk of invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast and a 243% increased risk of invasive lobular carcinoma of the breast in women with elevated lipids and on statins 10+ years.  No matter how  you try to slice this data, this is not good news for a large sub set of women.

Study finds non-hormonal therapy to manage hot flashes in postmenopausal women--drug them.  The authors of this study, looked to gabapentin, also known as neurontin to treat hot flashes.  Instead of looking at the causes: hormone imbalance, stress... these authors looked to a sedating drug.  The dosing of neurontin was 900 mg.   Most can't stand at this dose.  This study points to the lunacy in the research today.  Very soon, there will be the walking dead among us.  They will be the walking doped instead of dead.

Low free Testosterone associated muscle loss in Japanese women.  This points to other studies that low T can cause problems in women--in this case muscle loss.  Like many things, Testosterone in women is likely a "U" shaped curve of function: low and high are bad with physiologic therapy good.
