study finds that HRT given as women transition through menopause has benefiical effect in people with Alzheimer's.  However, when given years later, after menopause, no benefit is found.  In fact, rates increased.  Several flaws with this study.  First, they used synthetic hormones, particularily progestins.  Second, there seems to be no thought that the interpretation of the signal  has changed.  For example, we know that when men have low T, their estrogen receptor status changes from ER beta to ER alpha, which is more proinflammatory.  Third, use bioidentical hormones and compare these to synthetic hormones.

This is what amounts to science?  As if high estrogen production from overdosing Testosterone only results in gynecomastia.  This study is trying to validate doping utilizing testosterone by saying that no one listed gynecomastia as the reason for AI therapy?!?! No evaluation on PSA, TNF-alpha, CRP...was done.  This study is worthless.

Testosterone therapy post brachytherapy radiation found to have no recurrence and/or documented cancer progression in follow up out to 9 years.  Not all the men included in this study had none detectable psa levels.  PSA levels were all less than 1 ng/ml; 74.2% were none detectable, but 22% were detectable up to 0.5 ng/ml.  One of the patients had a transient rise in psa, but no recurrence or cancer progression was noted, and therapy was continued.

No benefit to memory for post menopause women with estradiol therapy.  This study looked at early and late menopause estrogen therapy.  The study also found no harm.  Only abstract available here.  These studies would do more scientific benefit if they would follow hormone levels.  This study did not touch on dementia; other studies have shown benefit from estrogen therapy  in preventing dementia in women.
